JST did not break the big bang theory. The early stars were bright because of violence. AI sorted it out. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technolo ... 4b7b&ei=11

a strong case can be made that life as we know it has existed for 13 billion years. it appears the most plausible explanation to life is it's everywhere, has been everywhere since time started, and the only issue is everyone is so fucking far apart we never know anyone else exists. also, with the universe expanding, it could be teaming with life yet impossible to ever reach, even if we could travel at the speed of light. fucking weird and kinda sad.
Quote:

However, old beliefs were squashed after the JWST scanned the cosmos from nine billion to 13 billion years ago. Among the 3,956 galaxies spotted by the telescope, 1,672 were found to be copycat disk galaxies closely resembling our Milky Way. What makes the find even more astonishing is that many of these galaxies existed when the universe was just a few billion years old.

Tonight there was a straight line of what looked like stars in the western sky. Probably 7-10 lights in a perfect line going west to east - never seen nuthin like it.

A couple minutes of googling makes me think it was starlink, but anybody else see it? Could be that Hamas is coming to the northern burbs, so I’ll make sure to turn the alarm system on tonight.

Most assuredly Starlink. Mixed emotions on that deal.

It’s a surreal visual. Looks like a straight line of stars splitting the sky in half.

Right before this year's fireworks at lakemoorfest there was a line of these damn things going across the sky. Kind of cool. Kind of scary. Ya know how much junk is up there now?

I see zero issues with the world’s richest man encircling the globe with proprietary satellites.

In future astronomical news, yours truly will be chasing the solar eclipse next year and could be persuaded to give away some extra solar eclipse glasses. I think I might have ordered a couple dozen.

Saw the one near St Louis a few years ago. That shit was remarkable, eerie, and surreal.

Maybe northwest or southeast. Gotta keep your options open.

So there's a partial solar eclipse this Saturday... in Chicago it peaks around noon with a 40% max coverage. (I took a corner back class one summer coached by Max Coverage).
It won't be a show stopper but either eclipse glasses it will be a cool thing to show the kids

I think we'll get about 85% in Houston. My eclipse glasses are ready.

I noticed it too a couple of months ago at the dirt bike track. We had a bonfire and I was walking out to the truck and i see this bright line of 20 lights go by. I assumed it had to be Starlink because I've seen satellites before and could tell they were some kind of satellites. There's a site called Find Starlink that tells you when they will pass over your location. They stay visible for quite awhile after a launch I had a train pass over for over a week about 2 minutes later each night.

I was surprised they found a way around the latency issue I thought that was impossible but they use a low Earth orbit so pings are very low.

If you are going to Indy for the eclipse, this looks like a cool way to do it.

That's pretty cool. Thanks.

Wife is out in Colorado near Rocky Mountain National park for some conference and snapped a couple of the eclipse there.

AMAZING view of the recently launched StarLink satellites this evening. Super bright, I’ve never seen anything like that. Was driving as they headed right at me from the west, I had to pull over and check it out.

At this year's lakemoorfest, there was a visible launch just before the fireworks!
