That's an awful comparison and should be mocked.

Political correctness is not saying things that are true because you don't want to offend a group.

Civility is saying things that are true but in a respectful way.

No it's a shallow one.

Not censoring yourself and having an honest dialogue are not the same.

Or we can just go by the dictionary...

the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.

That's better than a definition that says it's about denying deserved insults based on them being true.

Semantics. Obviously, the person saying them thinks they are true.

So what if they think it's true? If you think the world is flat people won't just accept it because it's how you feel.

Political correctness is not saying something you believe to be true for fear it will offend someone. And it's a very dangerous thing.

No, that's not what political correctness is.

Political correctness is having an extremist Muslim blow up a building and having half the country more worried about stereotyping Muslims than the actual people who were killed. Political correctness is saying that we shouldn't paint cartoons of Muhammad. Political correctness is the hesitance to blame ANY black criminal for anything related to crimes they commit because the system is rigged against them. Political correctness is saying that a baker can't choose not to participate in a gay wedding. Political correctness is not admitting that there are reasons why women don't make as much as men. Political correctness is not being able to admit that illegal immigrants aren't protected under the U.S. Constitution. Political correctness is not admitting that someone who is 65 years old is probably not an ideal candidate for a job in I.T. Political correctness is saying that companies have an imperative to have a certain percentage of "races," genders, gay people, lesbians, and old people and not just the most qualified people to do the job. Political correctness is not being able to openly debate whether transgenderism is a mental illness. Political correctness is a disease.

It's not? Then what is it? Civility?

Honestly, my example was better. Im sorry if that's politically incorrect.

What your describing is everybody gets a trophy-ism. While a close relative, not exactly PC.

That's civility. You calling or not calling someone a "chinamen" has no ramifications. Someone insisting that we must never even imply that Muslim extremism is a problem has severe ramifications.

Calling someone "Asian" is not a truth. It's just a word you use to refer to someone.

Many different cultures find the term Hispanic an offensive catch all used by ignorant Americans.
