There has been much more discussion regarding Tom Hanks over the past week than there has been regarding Rudy GObert.

Maybe on NBA TV

And NFL Free Agency is only a big deal on here (some sample size) and the radio doormat that is the Dan McNeil Show.

It took a league shutting down to compete with NFL free agency. That does not help your argument. Also free agency is now the bigger story being covered.

None of those stories are as big as the NBA's decision to suspend its season.

There isn't anything to report currently. How many "NBA suspends it season" stories do you think they can run? There is a saturation point.

If the NBA resumes play tomorrow NFL free agency goes on the back burner again.

As far as Social media goes there is no contest. Don't want to compare those figures now do you?

That's because there is currently no NBA story to compete with.

To put this in perspective if Lebron James were currently a free agent along with Tom Brady being a free agent which would be the bigger story?

The Friday Night 8pm east game on ESPN routinely loses to Gold Rush in the ratings. Again the only thing keepig the NBA even close to the NFL right nw is thy had to shut their league down.

Imagine what the ratings would be for Gold Rush if it featured bigfan and Keeping Score shacked in some one room wooden cabin in the middle of nowhere panning for gold

Why does the NBA dominate social media if there is such lackluster interest in its product?

There has been much more discussion regarding Rudy Gobert over the past week than there has been regarding Tom Brady.

Where? This is questionable even if we are keeping it to sports networks as the NFL has dominated the headlines since the weekend as they were the only league that had actual news coming out.

Hence the point regarding Dead Men and their ability to talk.

None of the NFL stories from the past weekend were as big as the NBA's decision to suspend its season.

The decision of the NBA has had a ripple effect upon all of the other sports that are currently active.

The NBA cancelling it's season was a minor part of the story. The Big Ten Tournament was already planning on playing games with no fans. The difference was that an NBA player tested positive so they moved SLIGHTLY faster than everyone else was going to. Most of the major discussion was about the NCAA tournament. The Ivy League cancelled its tournament on Tuesday. It was just a story that was snowballing. IF the NBA hadn't cancelled, we may have seen one more day of sports at most and that was only because a player tested positive.

Well Bernie has a strong social media following too. So does Warren. Did not translate to people actually voting for them. Same with NBA. lots of people love posting NBA gifs, but how many of the actually watch? I actually like the NBA, but know it is nowhere close to the NFL.

Each time we have this conversation it becomes an NFL vs NBA popularity discussion. My essential point was never about that.

NFL is more popular and gets higher ratings. During the Season. It's not more interesting than the NBA during it's off season.

As far as Social media goes you can't be more incorrect. The NBA generated more revenue from Social media than the 3 other major sports combined.

That is far more representative of its level of interest than the lead story of tonight's SportsCenter will ever be.

The NFL is basically anti-social media. The NBA does a much better job with it. Does not mean those people actually watch games. A national NFL game would never lose to Gold Rush at same time. If there was an NFL free agency special on ESPN on the same time as an NBA game on TNT, the NFL show would get higher ratings.

Is there a higher interest in LeBron James or Kylie Jenner?

Who would have guessed a thread made out of nowhere comparing what is a bigger story between the NFL and the NBA would become an NFL vs. NBA popularity discussion.

I'm going to go create a thread about Brian Urlacher and be shocked when people discuss the career of Brian Urlacher.

The "Shocked" (Not) portion of it is that you would fail to grasp the actual point.

"No One Cares About The NBA" or so says the intelligentsia of this message board.

Most popular sports figure in Chicago sports history was a basketball player.

2 most popular sports figures in L.A. Sports history were basketball players.

Miami? Basketball player.

Oakland? Basketball player.

Cleveland? Basketball player.

Houston? Basketball Player.

How can this possibly be when no one "Cares About The NBA" Or so we are constantly told.

In normal circumstances, the NFL is king in the US. The king is active and dominating news headlines.

There's no discussion here which is the bigger story.

NBA Finals garners higher ratings than the NFL draft. Is that a "normal" circumstance?

Do the Words NBA FINALS (obviously not) mean anything to you?

NBA finals ratings were much higher than THE FIRST DAY OF THE DRAFT.

NBA finals are on free tv.

The NFL draft is on cable at a different time of year. When the the NFL draft goes against NBA playoffs games on cable, the NFL draft wins.

The AFC Championship game drew more viewers than every game of the NBA Finals combined last season.

So many excuses. The NFL draft is also spread across 4 Networks yet conveniently that never gets mentioned. Fox is also"free TV" by the way.

The much vaunted (on here at least) NFL draft doesn't even avg more viewers than the 2nd round of a typical 2nd round NBA series.

Here are the numbers from last season's Warriors Rocket series.

Saturday’s Warriors-Rockets NBA semifinal Game 3 earned a 4.4 rating and 7.23 million viewers on ABC, up 16% in ratings and 14% in viewership from last year (Raptors-Cavaliers: 3.8, 6.35M) and up 22% in both measures from 2017 (Warriors-Jazz: 3.6, 5.91M).

Do the Words NBA FINALS (obviously not) mean anything to you?

NBA finals ratings were much higher than THE FIRST DAY OF THE DRAFT.

You’re cherry picking your option. I’m more intrigued by what is on head to head, which proves, in a far more substantial way, what wins.

I’m sure if there was actually anything good on TV in June, that would beat the NBA finals.
