Bowling in a Tournament in Peotone....Yes, Peotone, Saturday night. Have another coming up on Wednesday night in Hoffman Estates (Petersen Classic-100th year!) and yet another June 5th (USBC Mixed Doubles) so, I'm hoping to get things off on a good note in what will be a tourney busy few weeks. The bowling alley in Peotone is fairly small and old, but it was a lot of fun last year, so I'm going back. Plus, taking my Wife and step-son to see Iron Man 2 tonight. I didn't have much interest in the first one, but it turned out to be surprisingly good. I hope this one is as good.

The Petersen is the evilist sort of variety of tournament I have ever seen in a bowling alley-ranks right up there with the Elgin Lanes No-Tap in terms of how much I hated participating.

IT'S ABOUT THE TOUGHEST, WITH THE OIL PATTERNS BEING SO CRAZY. BUT THEY ARE THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, SO THE ABILITY TO ADJUST QUICKLY IS KEY. I DON'T BOWL IN NO-TAP'S REALLY JUST BECAUSE THE ABILITY TO PICK UP YOUR #7 AND #10 PINS (RIGHTY/LEFTY) SHOULD MATTER IMO. A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE CONDITIONS, BUT I LIKE THE CHALLENGE. PLUS, I'M BOWLING WITH FRIENDS THAT I'LL ENJOY THE TIME WITH. BOWLING AND GOLF ARE SIMILAR IN THE RESPECT THAT THE PEOPLE YOU DO THOSE THINGS WITH, DETERMINE TO A LARGE DEGREE, HOW FUN THE ACTIVITY WILL BE.

My dad used to get me to do that one. I hate no-taps (I'm a career 89% 10 pin shooter), and for some reason every year when we bowled in it, one of my bowling balls would come out damaged beyond repair.
