yeah i definitely end up technically being a tangential-mastermind (i haven't gone by my old tag name "threadkilla" since the mid-00s tho) but i also want to point out that it's a tad disingenuous to call me a thread killer nowadays because 95% of people on the board ignore me anyways.

which hey, that's fine too. if i were to sit down and truly try to cater everything i wrote to be all things to all people i'd go mental because at this point it was the introductory posting i did years ago that earned me whatever reputation i've got now, so if i make 27 consecutive short sweet and 100% on topic posts it doesn't matter because when i have that one "classic" me-post people are gonna be like "see? every fucking time"

i do it for the 10% who come here to read and write and champion discourse, not the ones who are bored at work and wanna play an extended game of grabass because their 9-5s must be some kind of cool to allow them to sit there hugboxing with teh radio on and all that.

It's not us it's you.

It doesnt always mean it is a bad thing, as I dont think some try to derail anything, they just do. Someone adds a story, it reminds someone of something else....it happens.

Then there is just the person who cant seem to be part of a normal conversation, but you can make your own guesses as to who that is.

welp i made the mistake of showing up in the thread so the perpetual referendum on me continues. i'm glad that good successful people with lives and families can take time out of their busy days to discuss "the sinicalypse problem" in earnest.

nas, where did i say it wasn't me? perhaps i came off a bit pithy about the 95% of people ignoring me thing, but that's a good thing. it's not like my day is complete unless i get that emoticon-of-approval from redskingreg or something because one of my little 2-line on-topic posts is being validated by someone who "gets it."

i mean hell i personally threw a block party the day i found out that i get "the nas pass" cuz holy shit can you imagine coming to a place where you don't know if the luminaries of the community personally approve of your "steez" to use a term made popular by gangstarr? it's harrowing stuff.

and i'd say that you're going a few steps too far to say that i'm incapable of having a normal conversation, it's just that one way or another they're not gonna happen. it's a chicken and the egg scenario: what came first, the part where i showed up and posted long rambling tangential missives that weren't exactly fertilizer for today's messageboard paradigm of veritable-IRC-on-a-webpage chats? or the part where people en masse tend to be "fuck that guy?" so in the wake of realizing that i just said "i'm gonna do what comes natural to me and let it rip" fully knowing that the extreme minority of people who appreciate my posts BECAUSE of their fundamental differences from the status quo are going to enjoy them regardless of whether or not i put in the effort to chameleon everyone else and post just like them.

i found out that putting in the effort to curtail my normal thoughts into veritable twitter-paradigm posts is pretty much moot since everyone already has their mind made up about me and now nothing i do can change that. and it's not a boohoo wtf guise you're supposed to love and cherish me!!!!!! it's just *shrug* i don't see the problem since my OG ramblefests caused everyone to armor up and learn how to carry on like i'm just the retarded kid in the corner slobbering all over himself and yeah just kind of leave him there and the grown ups can continue talking over here.

c'est la vie as the french would say in france!

where is this negative connotation coming from? i never said being ignored en masse was bad or any sort of victimization.... it is what it is man. ain't no shame or pain in the game cuz it's technically a good thing when threads are able to continue on as if i had never posted because that means i'm not getting a bunch of people stopping after every one of my posts to say "TL;DR and what i skimmed seems rather shit" which is a sign of progress in the big/ger picture.

TL;DR = ain't no thang but a chickenwing we's having a smokeout in the dungeon with the mary jaaaaaaannnneeee" - outkast

you know, from now on i'm going to challenge myself to summarize every 2+ paragraph post i make in 1-2 lines of thesis statement and then delete the actual post i made and just leave the TL;DR summary there. i just did it here and saved a few fake digital trees from getting pulped into the paper that i write my magna cartas on.

Or in Favrefan posts, which could all be ironic if you didn't know better.

speaking of progress, are you going to expand our league playoffs to ~10 teams so you can get in it?

it's not gonna feel like the sandlot league playoffs without nas in there to be a 3/1 favorite to win the league title. what happened to your squad this year? i've been kind of hyperfocused on my squad which has just added jewish pitching machine kyle lobstein in the hopes that he's got a few more !!! starts in him before his inevitable regression to the mean kicks in (next year plz).

last 2 starts = 6IP 0ER (and 0K. yikes) but then 5.2IP 2ER and 10K. so if he's able to do what JORR says is the #1 thing for a pitcher to do and win ballgames by hook or by crook, well it's nice to know that he can both pitch to contact and/or evidently miss a bunch of bats to get the W.

i'm personally amazed that he was there to get cuz anyone could have gotten him on a free for the last ~2 weeks and you'd figure a kid coming up and throwing 6 shutout innings = worth a flier in a league as deep as the sandlot league, let alone when he turns around and strikes out 10 in 5.2IP cuz holy crap i missed out on rubby de la rosa going for ~$1750 after he had that good "hello world" start for the sawx, and uhhh i also missed out via a low bid on that kid in arizona chase anderson who's quietly having a real nice season providing invaluable SP depth at the backend of a rotation (even tho his regression to the mean has him at 3.85/1.37 he cranked out a 6IP 1ER 8K win last time out. your league is so deep that teams are invariably going to have a SP or two with an ERA well over 4 and a whip well above 1.25 because if you try and cherrypick 100% quality starts you're only gonna have ~40IP in a given week and you'll get blown out of the water by the guy who's dropping ~70+ IP and taking all of the cumulative stats like IP, wins, Ks, GIDP, quality starts, etc etc)

so yeah man i'm really pleased i was able to acquire one more lottery ticket of an arm for the playoff run (where yu darvish is 95% likely to not pitch again, finishing off the degradation from "big 5 SP + pineda" to "big 2 SP + pineda and a prayer") because finishing the season with $4980 seems kind of stupid unless you're going to let us roll over our cash into next year, at which point we'd have our first league millionaire in 2-3 years =D

----

now kids THAT'S how you derail a thread. i had to step up and provide a perfect example of how the artform is done at a high level like literally * rummages around * where did i put my bowl?

I can't really say Sini is whipping anyones ass, because I read maybe 10% or less of his posts. I continue to stress to him the importance of getting to the point, it brings it home much stronger.

This doesnt mean you cant go off every once in a while with an essay, but when you do, it emphasizes whatever point you are making.

And I once again dont think Sini is trying to kill a thread, as most don't, most times it just happens.

Yes, it is called "common courtesy", and there are no valid excuses for one's lacking of it.

You can flow on some self-made shit - no doubt, but just maybe refrain from acting like you are some strange "irresistible & interesting" alien who was sent here to teach us how to post on a messageboard.

Sini has derailed zero threads because, like many other posters have mentioned, I don't read any of them.

I actually read a lot of his stuff. If I don't feel like it though I just skip right over. Sini is the epitome of verbose. 10-15 years ago I would actually post like that. Now I'm simply to apathetic.

I have found the references he makes to cultural obscurities interesting from time to time, but it's just the style is often way too obtuse. I had a girlfriend that would send rambling meandering texts that would make my brain hurt in a similar fashion. So yeah, Sini makes me think about that girl, and it's just easier for my peace of mind to scroll through.
