I think I may have related this story previously but when I was 19 my friends
and I decided it would be a brilliant idea to climb on top of our old high school
and hit golf balls off the roof towards the police station. So, the 3 of us who
were stoned and a little drunk at the time, shimmied up 3 stories to the roof.
My two buddies hit their golf balls and didn't even come close. I teed mine up
and gave it a huge rip. Unfortunately I hadn't teed up far enough away from
the two foot wall at the edge of the building. My swing speed back then was
probably around 115 mph, the ball ricocheted off the brick wall and came screaming
back at me hitting me in my left inner thigh, just inches from my groin. You could
clearly see the dimples from the ball on the bruise. I could have been seriously
injured that evening.

Yeah, I realized I kinda went into a different topic there.

Let's just do stupid sober things. In high school we regularly did something in the winter we called "skitching" - anybody else do that?

If that's when you grab the back of a moving car's bumper, then yes...

I may or may not have been under the influence of one or more imbibements and/or inhalants and driving my mom's '84 Buick LeSabre home from a party. All I remember about the trip was looking down to change the CD (in the Walkman that was plugged into the car stereo via the cassette adapter). When I looked up, I realized that I was about two seconds away from hitting a guardrail. I cranked on the wheel. The next thing I remember, I woke up in my bed. No one else was up yet.

I ran out to the garage expecting to see a smashed car, but the only thing amiss, was that it was missing all four hub caps. And I had absolutely no idea where to go look for them. I took the car out right away and bought four new hub caps. No one ever knew.

That's it. I just wasn't sure if it had a different name in different areas.
Really stupid in a lot of ways. We did it all the time.

We didn't have a fancy name for it. I only did it once and decided that it may not have been my best idea ever. Kids are dumb...

I jumped out of a car going 20 mph while stone-cold sober. 20 mph doesn't sound like much until you're rolling across the pavement at that speed.

High school? That was a staple of walking home from grade school during the winter at QAS. Every year the principal would tell us horror stories about kids getting stuck in wheel wells, hands being stuck in bumpers and people being decapitated by fast stopping cars. It never stopped us. We would also peg cars with snowballs.

It is harder grabbing the bumper of a Benz or a Caddy?

The old Volvo's and Volkswagon's were the best. The bumper's jutted out so you could use a much easier overhand technique rather than the underhand one.

In high school there was this guy with a souped-up Z28 that my buddy, "Tom", just could not stand. One night, Z28 guy buzzed by my friend when I was in the car with him and flipped Tom off. Tom just completely lost his mind (he was kind of a hothead). So, Tom decides to start chasing Z28 guy down an old backroad.

Well, Tom's Dodge Omni hatchback's speedometer only went up to 80 and that thing was buried deeper than Heath Ledger. This car is bouncing all over the road, any bump and we were airborn for seconds at a time, but we were right on the Z28, Tom's losing it and I'm trying to be calm and talk him down before we all die. Then, suddenly, we heard a popping noise and that Z started smoking like Robby Gordon was driving it.

According to the Z guy later, his speedometer had him going 105-110 and we were right on him. Tom couldn't contain his joy at outrunning the Z28 all night. I went home, reliving my life flashing before my eyes.

I know a guy who tries to work Andover and Harvard into every conversation. Have Queen's and Iggy's really reached that level?

Didn't do it for money, but technically, I defrauded the company I worked for when I was 21 to get Smashing Pumpkins tickets.

Queen's isn't all that great which makes it a perfect feeder system to Loyola
