Cryptocurrency is the tulip bubble. Unless it's controlled by the U.S. government.

Seriously though, the establishment of CBDCs and obsolesence of paper currency is a siren call for wider adoption of Bitcoin.

It may even wake up someone like Regular Reader when he realizes that the next preseident Donald Trump would suddenly have the ability to shut down his buying power. Better be careful about calling government officials criminals and pieces of shit. Your CBDC wallet might be locked.

It's a siren call for people to wake the fuck up is what it is.

No doubt.

The wall of separation between money and state is called Bitcoin.

Pandora's Box.

The government can flip a "switch" right now. Assets are frozen and "stolen" every day by the government.

It's not quite that easy. Government can't do anything to the $20,000 in cash I have in my safe. And that could be $20 million if someone had that much and wanted to store it that way. And government can't do shit to my Bitcoin wallets.

I wonder if Brick will make the same arguments against CBDC as he does against Bitcoin, i.e. "It's easy to lose forever. You can't really ever secure it and if you secure it too much you risk locking yourself out of it. Even if you could actually spend it, it is much harder than a simple credit card or even writing a check along with less security behind it in the case that I'm getting scammed." I'm guessing he will cheer it on as "progress" and "convenience."

I have no interest in a US digital currency. However, it likely would not have the same issues you mentioned above.

I can see the govt introducing a digital dollar and giving people a certain deadline to convert/turn in their paper currency, after which it becomes worthless.

We kinda have digital currency today. MANY rarely spend paper currency. I also doubt paper currency will be outlawed in our lifetime.

It's slowly being "outlawed" already by PRIVATE BUSINESS refusing to accept it.

Anyway, you make a great case for Bitcoin.

False. PRIVATE BUSINESS can do whatever it wants. Ask Brick.

Bitcoin can process like 5 transactions per second. It’ll never be a viable currency.

Something like bitcoin may be viable some day but it doesn’t exist yet.

I'm letting you know. There's a myriad of debit cards that you can fill with bitcoin and it converts it to fiat.

"Converts it to fiat" is key here.

As far as I know, I cannot put bitcoin in the machine when I scan my bag of Bugels.

I've spent a couple thousand worth of bitcoin doing that. It was free when the shit was going up, it is painful when its going down.

Dip can be scooped up into the opening of the individual Bugel. Perfect dip vessel.

Well, you can. It will take 0.00011976 bitcoin off your card
