Looking to dump Comcast come November. Anything change in the last few months with these services?

I'm still happy with Vue. Even with their highest package and my separate Internet, I'm saving $65-$70 per month from what I was spending.

Just not having to pay $30 a month for fucking cable box rentals (which are obsolete tech in 2017) is worth it. A $85 Fire HD gives me the best platform for Vue and other streaming services. I of course use my PS4 in my man cave since I already have it, but Fire HD in the other rooms with a $25 antenna for OTA (plus digital subchannels)

How is the DVR on the Vue? I am looking at switching over to the Vue in November.

I like it as shows are stored on the cloud so you never run out of space.

You can add up to 60 shows per profile (you can have 5 profiles per account) to "my shows." When added, any episode of that show which airs is stored for 28 days after the date it has aired on a particular channel. For example, if you add Law & Order SVU, it will both add new episodes on NBC and re-runs which air on USA for 28 days.

Some people complain about shows only being on there for 28 days, but to be honest, if I don't watch something 28 days after it aired, I'm probably not going to ever watch it. Besides, if an episode re-airs, it is added again for another 28 days.

You'll end up with more on your DVR than you will ever have time to watch so I have no complaints. Plus you have access to on-demand episodes for any show you add. As with cable, you can fast forward any DVR'ed show, but on demand may not have fast forward.

This seems to be about 2 years away from being a complete replacement. Too many issues being worked out now. Too many contracts being figured out.

Cubs games yes if you are in the market where CSN is your local RSN.
MLB playoffs, yes (FS1, MLB, ESPN, TBS, etc. are all available)
HBO, yes as a stand alone add-on. You also get HBO Now access with it
NFL Games, yes, ESPN, NFL Network, etc. are all available. Red Zone can also be added during the football season for the same price you would pay on other providers

You would have to stay away from social media when watching a game. I used the free trial for Vue maybe a year or so ago and it was the equivalent to watching Comcast on your tablet without as many options. I tried Hulu recently and liked the fact I can watch tv "live" while driving but it still wasn't worth cutting the cord because the delay is about 60 seconds or more and you still need internet. In the end the inconvenience isn't worth the minor savings.

Looking at prices doesn't look like much savings compared to my Xfinity bundle. 109 for all sports, HBO and Internet

Seems like I'd be close to that again with Vue+internet

I was paying $190 at the time I switched so it made sense for me. If you're paying $109 for all that, then yeah it doesn't make sense for you. Are you on the introductory pricing?

They raised me last month to $160/month all in for TV (240+ channels including all the sports stuff) and internet (75 Mbit Blast!). This time I failed in negotiating it down with a phone call, they won't waive any of the HD + DVR fee or reduce the base price from $119.99 for Double Play. So I will probably look at Vue in the next couple of months.

I get new deals every couple years. One time it was with HBO and I insisted it NEVER be taken away. They've cut it twice in 5 years and just a phone call got it back.

I forgot the couple things I've added, it's 125 with anyroom Dr and HD or some other bulls hit

Sling Blue w/DVR $30 a month

NBC Sports, NBC Comcast Chicago, FS1, FS2, TBS

NO ESPN! NO Big 10 Network! No other silly college channel I will never watch. You still get the NFL Network but I can live with it.

Done and done!

The only thing I've identified as a loss would be that Playstation Vue does not have the local WGN feed from Chicago, so I would lose any sports they broadcast on that station. But that is very few Cubs or Bulls games.

I had a question if you went to PlayStation Vue, do you know if it does NFL Redzone and how is it, maybe moving somewhere soon and may have to do something like this for tv.

You pay $30 for 5 channelsand then pay for internet? I'm sure Comcast has a cheaper double play.

doubtful as the equipment rental costs alone are over $30 a month

You can buy Redzone as an independent add on for $30-40 for the season. It's the same Redzone you would get with Comcast

There are more channels than I listed but I only care about watching sports and only a couple sports at that. I am paying Direct TV $110 plus fees right now. Even if I have to up my internet, I am still way ahead.

I cut the cord for a year and it was a pain in the ass for minor savings. I went back and haven't been too upset.

It isn't for everyone, but my savings to date have been $1,120 over the last 15 months. That's with me having HBO and Showtime on Vue's highest tier.

You don't get wanting to save nearly $1000 a year by cutting your cable bill down? I don't call that minor savings. Plus, I get the added bonus of not having to pay for ESPN and the Big Ten Network every month.

I'm glad it's working for you. I watch enough of a variety of channels it doesn't.

Yup! If you're OK not being able to flip through channels then cutting cable is for you.

Doing the math for standalone internet pricing, various subscriptions...it wasn't $$$$ savings. But it looks like it worked for DAC and Ogie! Good for them!

Flipping channels sucked with Direct TV. It was easily the worst cable I ever had.
