what's an EDM? yeah i know it's an electronic dance music, but still it's one of those terms hoisted on me to describe something i was already listening to like IDM (intelligent dance music)

i used to joke that IDM stood for "i dig men" and believe you me if you listen to enough modern autechre there aren't going to be any women around, so i kind of went with SDM or superior dork music.

the one thing that's amazed me about electronic music is that there hasn't been an exodus from the roland #0# sound, like instead of having wicked crazy future sounding all shit that we all dreamed about in 1989 we've got 808s and heartbreaks, you know? while everyone loves the TB-303 (acid/house/etc) you have to remember that thing was a failed bass guitar emulator from 1983.
