I'll never understand people who want to try to climb mountains. Quote: For Maria Strydom and her husband Robert Gropel, climbing Everest while adhering to a strict vegan diet was their “own personal Everest.” The 34-year-old Strydom, a lecturer at Monash Business School in Melbourne, had a message she wanted to share with the world: Veganism is not a handicap. The couple reached Camp Four, the final camp 400 meters from the summit before both suffered from high-altitude pulmonary edema, colloquially known as altitude sickness. It caused fluid to build up in Strydom’s brain, which killed her on Saturday. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/wom ... li=BBnb7Kz |

A mountain wins again. Quote: Alexander Polli, a skydiver and pioneer in BASE jumping, died after a wingsuit crash in the French Alps. Polli, 31, crashed into a tree while jumping in the Couloir Ensa near Chamonix shortly after 5 a.m. EDT on Monday, PGHM mountain rescue officials told NBC News. Polli died at the scene, which is popular — and dangerous — for BASE jumpers. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sp ... li=BBnb7Kz |

But is it really that popular with BASE jumpers? |
