School District 163 tells students to stay home amid FBI-related incident

PARK FOREST, Ill. — Officials at School District 163 in Park Forest are advising parents to keep students who normally walk or ride the bus to school at home. WGN is told there’s an FBI-related incident going on in the area of Rich Court.

Here’s the statement from the district’s website:

“Due to an unsafe situation in the community right now, we are advising parents to keep students who walk or ride the bus in the Park Forest area to remain at home until further notice. We will be executing a late start and will update you with further information as the situation is resolved. Students should not be in the vicinity of the intersections of Lakewood, Orchard, Sauk Trail and Westwood avenues.”

The Trib adds, “FBI has ongoing enforcement action in the area of Rich Court in Park Forest,” FBI spokesman Garrett H. Croon said. “This is an active scene.”

We may have been classmates!

They were often classmates & teammates (or their parents) who thought I was a funny kid that was often the smallest kid in school & could occasionally use the help. Catching the CTA bus home late from school (or going to the local McDonalds & grocery store) could be a bit hair raising at times.

Ultimately we all kind of had the same focus, going away to college & trying to do bigger/better things. As soon as they all left for school, that gang stuff died down pretty quickly.
