Wind turbines continue killing hundreds of thousands of America's birds. Including hundreds of Bald Eagles. OTOH: Some 60 campsites in California’s El Dorado National Forest have been closed, thanks to a couple of birds. The Forest Service has shut down sites in the Sunset Campground at Union Valley Reservoir because a pair of young eagles has nested in the campground and is taking care of their new family. Officials don’t want the protected flyers disturbed and say it could be sometime in August before campers can return. Now fortunately for me, I will be camping this summer in New Mexico and only have to worry about forest fires and roving bands of future citizens. Meanwhile, just over the border in So. I heartily endorse your endorsement of birds and marijuana, but reading that was a strange experience. |

Quote: Wind turbines continue killing hundreds of thousands of America's birds. And it still only represents 4.5% of total generated electrical energy in the United States. Imagine what would happen to various bird populations (and the resulting ecological impact) if we had enough wind turbines to generate just 25% of the country's electrical energy needs. This is to say nothing of the ecological impact of wind turbines tending to keep warm air closer to the surface. Freedom isn't free, and neither is energy. |

Travel from Mendota to Sublette on that highway and count the number of non working wind turbines and it's about 20% of the visible ones. Farmers still probably getting their full payments from the tax payers tho. On the Big Island of Hawaii at the southern most point of the USA it's real windy and there is a campground out there. On the way you can see all the old wind turbines laying on the ground and not one turbine upright. Last week the biggest solar farm out west, subsidized with your tax dollar to the tune of about $2,000,000,000.00 caught on fire. Those big solar farms kill thousands of birds also. Buy it's green so progressives pols don' give a shit. And , of course, out of 2 billion comes millions in kickbacks to the the Democrat Party. Win win baby. Marijuana farms with little solar panels for the 12volt beer coolers and windmills powering the irrigation pumps makes more sense. |
