It's funny that you call that "the really naughty one". I was just listening to a podcast by the linguist, John McWhorter and he broke down all profanity into four categories he called "Goddamn, Fuck, Shit, and N!gger". (For the record, McWhorter is African-American.)

The "Goddamn" category is profaning the holy. It's become the least taboo of the four in Western society as we have moved away from religion and toward secularism. "Fuck" is comprised of sexual profanities and "Shit" is profanities dealing with bodily functions. The one of the four that is still considered the most highly profane is the category he calls "N!gger", which is comprised of personal slurs based on race, ethnicity, etc.
