My daughter decided to help the homeless for a school project. We've put together about 70 care packages and now we have to pass them out. Problem is besides lower Wacker (not an option for my daughter) I don't know where I can large concentrations of homeless people. My plan is to walk around the downtown area but if you all know of some good locations please post them

She should wear a t-shirt that says 'Sorry You're Poor'.

Please don't feed the homeless. It just encourages more of them.

I always see people in the Pedway near Macy's. Also State and Madison is always good to have at least 2-3 on the corners there. Michigan Ave between Van Buren and Randolph usually has several.

If you are going to be with her, just try to talk to one of the more coherent ones and see if they know of any areas.

Also the Lawerence Avenue viaduct... right after Wilson, I think. Close by anyway...

There is a large shantytown in the infamous Rezko empty lot across the river from the Amtrak yard S of Roosevelt and W of Clark. The cops at the 1st District all know where it is, I'm sure they'd take you there to feed them if you stopped by the station.

LaSalle stop on the Blue Line. come up to the street, walk east a block and then turn up Clark--there used to be (might still be) an SRO hotel place there. Always get a lot of people there when I hand out smokes and liquor and hamiltons on random holidays to homeless dudes.

continue up Clark and then turn right/East at Van Buren and walk under the El tracks and passed the library; there's a sorta park area there--ironically name after the wealthiest family in the area, Pritzker--. sometimes has temp sculpture displays. Always gaggles of homeless there. State and Van Buren.

get back on the blue line and take it to UIC-Halsted -- all hours around Halsted and Jackson--there is an SRO hotel there. right near Mr Gyro.

go west from there--Racine/Medical Center/Western/Kedize Homan -- surface at any of those stops and should find grafeful homeless.

walk north on Western to Jackson (by the Walgreen's) homeless around there.

Chinatown has an SRO hotel. there's also one up north still. but way up north. if you want the highest density of homeless, hit those SRO hotels.

or, continue up State Street, plenty of spots in the Loop:

the pedway all the way from Michigan ave to the Red Line/Blue line is always good.

same for the Thompson Center across from Clark/lake (Clark / Lake is good as well) .

Daley Plaza, the park. Don't go on Thursday, there's a farmer's market there and they clear out the homeless for the most part.

Find the guy that used to hang out at the McDonalds by Wrigley Field. Or just give them to Ronnie Woo Woo.
