Okay, I have to plead ignorance on this subject. I can't grasp why it happens so naturally I never looked into how it works. Why would an atom share a pair or more of electrons with another atom instead of outright removing them from another to form an ionic bond? |

A few years ago, I was asked to quickly tutor a daughter on chemistry, as she had a final coming up in 2 days and was running like a D in the class. I have no chemistry experience farther than junior year of high school, and I made that fact known, but was still looked at as smart enough to somehow translate this information over. I looked at her book and this wasn't the stuff I learned 20 years ago.... the models of atoms were different than I remembered. I did my best and I think she failed anyway. Oh well, what can you do - it was two days. |
