We have a fairly new refrigerator with an ice/water dispenser. It is making ice like it should but over the span of a few days the ice starts to coalesce in the bin and eventually I have to open it up and punch it and then it breaks apart and is fine. I can see little droplets that turn to ice that are coming over the edge of the ice cube tray. I am almost certain that drops of water are coming down as it fills the ice cube tray and this eventually freezes all the ice together. What can I do? Is it too much pressure? The actual water dispenser shoots out a very solid stream so it isn't low pressure. I have set the temperature of the freezer to 0 but this has a separate compartment anyways that I assume keeps the temperature right where it should be. Any suggestions on what to do? |

I read the OP and responses to my wife, she was impressed! You guys are hilarious, at times. As I am not hilarious, I'll toss out the second serious response: Sounds like the water is either splashing into the cube tray or over-filling the tray. You can look for calcium deposits or rust specks at the fill tube orifice, or check the level control, probably a float. Water level is too high, causing the uni-cube formation. Also you could Google the level adjustment technique. Might even just be that the tube is no longer fastened where it should be. Good luck, we're all counting on you. |
