Tankless not an option.

So I have a small drip out of bottom of hot water heater. It is really out of the bottom running past the pilot. So I shut it down.

Anyway I am mechanically inclined and all fittings are good and tight and not leaking. So someone tell me the tank isn't rusted and bad? No idea how old maybe 10 years?

Gut tells me internal leak and go to Home Depot

Such lack of refinement in this thread. Shameful.

You should be able to determine the age of the tank by the serial number.

It's probably rusted, and time for a new one.

10 years? That is about the life expectancy. Get a new one.
We had an issue with ours recently (ACO button kept popping), just replaced the thermostat. Was told that if that doesn't work, a bigger fix is more expensive than just getting a new one.

I think 10yrs is about right on how long they last. I am on borrowed time with mine ATM.

Haha that's hilarious making someone work on a weekend for a minor drip!

Do you think Mike will lecture them about getting better grades so they don't have to do this anymore?

That would be hard to do today because (allegedly) he's at the ballgame right now.
