Anyone have suggestions? Uber would be around $75 total from my place to Midway. Four days of parking would be $60, so I'm leaning toward that option. Unless one of you dinguses wants to give me a lift next week.

I'll be lugging around two heavy suitcases upon my return. Probably just going to pony up for parking. No real good public transportation route from Palatine-Midway.

Thanks, all.

I fly out of O'Hare every time, except when I don't. Had to fly Southwest this time.

I'd rather you use it to take a drunken high school chick on an all-night excursion, while she's passed out in the trunk, only to have to drive your mid-labor mother to the hospital in reverse, because you blew out the tranny the night before.

KRAMER: What's going on?

JERRY: Keith Hernandez just asked me to help him move.

KRAMER: What? Well, you hardly know the guy…. What a nerve. You see wasn't I right about this guy? Didn't I tell you? Now, you're not going to do it are you?

JERRY: I said yes.

KRAMER: YOU SAID YES!? Don't you have any pride or self respect? I mean, how can you prostitute yourself like this? I mean what are you going to do? You're going to start driving him to the airport?

JERRY: I'm NOT DRIVING HIM TO THE AIRPORT!

KRAMER: yeah yeah

JERRY: Hey Kramer, do me a favor.

KRAMER: What?

JERRY: Don't mention it to anybody.

KRAMER: I wish you never mentioned it to me.

Park in the Economy lot in the parking deck. I'm not sure why anyone parks in the open lot. Same cost but not covered. Just make sure you catch the correct bus back to your car ("Economy Garage"...not "Economy Lot").

Park Ride and Fly on 47th street. Pre-pay it's only $10 a day. There are even additional coupons to make it cost less.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/midway-park-rid ... -chicago-2

The shuttles follow you to your vehicle and are roaming the lots non-stop. You can load your own luggage on the shuttle bus or the driver will and prolly tip if he does.
The bus drops you across from the terminals where the shuttles for hotels and, duh, parking are.

Very good service. I've used them many, many times. Once they even gave me a courtesy jump, no extra charge.

I don't know if you have AAA but going through their site today for a rental car I found discounted parking at Midway FWIW....

For anything lasting a week or less, I've parked on the street in the residential areas just south of the airport, east of Cicero Ave.

Everybody should have AAA. It pays for itself every year.

One long tow, roadside tire change, or emergency battery jump makes it worth it in addition to hotel or car rental savings.

so you just hoof it to the airport then? skip TSA, jump a fence and walk right out on the tarmac to your flight.

I've used them as well and it's fine. However, the fee listed doesn't include taxes. When you see the final price it's pretty close to the Midway rate (particularly on trips less than 7 days). Also, the lower rate is outside parking. The deck is a better option if the weather is bad.

For the record - both MDW and ORD give free jumps as well.

always wondered who the weirdos were who use those off-airport parking services

only in the last year have i discovered the ease and convenience of being able to drive your own vehicle to the airport and not have to pay too too much to leave it there AND having car-trunk-side shuttle that saves having to wrestle luggage around the parking structure up closer to the terminals. where i used to always park. if i didn't blue line to orange line it.

i've used it every flight since; it's one of the few relatively easy/painless things about air travel these days.

probably. but the shuttle bus driver had a portable 1000 AMP jump starter with him and so the extra time required was about 3 minutes vs having to call someone and wait for them to get around to finding and jumping you.

i paid 106$ for the RV version, for 2 drivers. 14 months. 2 extra months for some reason.

http://www.aaa.com/aaa/001/benefits.htm

EDIT: I guess it's the RV Plus, middle version. for people without actual RV's but who sometimes drive from Dallas to Odessa Texas and so 3 miles worth of towing wouldn't be worth a bucket of warm spit out in creepy pasta BFE West Texas.

Not sure. My wife gets AAA for free through her work. It was $15 to add me.

We have called for two tow trucks this year, so whatever it costs, it's worth it.
