What do you think when people signoff on their email with "Best, <theirnamehere>" Seems a little uppity to me.

It's fine. It is the same as all the others.

Not really. Do you think your 2 for 1 sausage purchase is the same quality as any other sausage purchase?

It shows no thought was put into the closing, it's flippant, and I think that's terrific.

No, really. It is.

They're all pretty archaic if you ask me.

it's a result of my passive aggressive midwestern upbringing. sorry

"Sincerely" is ridiculous if you think about it. You're basically saying "That shit I just typed is all true... very little bullshit throughout. It was completely sincere."

I also like "best" or "best regards" after someone has chewed your ass out. It's very passive-aggressive.

I just wanted to tell you that your shitty, unprofessional organization has ruined my life. I'm seeking legal counsel, and I hope you all rot in hell.

Best Regards,

Jill

Those are all very different. Do you really feel Sincerely is the same as Best? At least Sincerely is grammatically correct.. Best has along way to go.

Post subject:  Re: Best

Uhhh...none of those would be considered grammatically correct in a classic sense.

I think you're thinking too deeply about this. Who cares?

It is as dumb as starting with Dear or To Whom It May Concern

I'm gonna start closing all my business letters with "Love,". That way they'll remember them.

i have a lot of correspondence with Canadian customers and vendors, and they seem to prefer "cheers" at the end of an email. that always has seemed pretty weird to me.

cheers,

The best is when you get an out of office from a Canadian customer and you get the message in French and English.
