They're similar, but on different levels, like cool & cold.

I think the problem may be that you Millenials were told you were great all the time growing up, so it watered down the word for you.

A synonym is a word or phrase that means nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language. Words that are synonyms are said to be synonymous, and the state of being a synonym is called synonymy. The word comes from Ancient Greek syn (σύν) ("with") and onoma (ὄνομα) ("name").

It fits, but I suspect that the petitioner is questioning whether one can employ 'synonym' as a means to say the words are interchangeable ... which they most certainly are not.

My original declaration was the words are "pretty synonymous", not interchangeable.

You lose points on the inappropriate modifier 'pretty' ... being synonymous is a binary condition.

But it does bring disgrace to the great orator leash for being lazy with his words.

Hey, hey, hey... you can call me a caveman all you want, but don't compare me to FF.

Anyway, the voting is 9-1, with FF being responsible for the only affirmative vote. We can probably shut this one down.
