Would have been there by now if we hadn't chased the LEO dream with the shuttle program and stuck with with the heavy lift stuff. Shuttle killed NASA. The plan, post-Apollo, was to have men on Mars by the 80's. |

I'm development, yes, but nothing on the pad. All that knowledge and production capability was slowly lost after Apollo was shut down. But I agree with you on the last point as well as pittmikes. It's just that the goal of "getting there" is what doomed Apollo. |
