I have to say that as a fan of Oliver Stone's work on a cinematic level, its always bothered me how much he's relied on the notion of the counter myth to make his point. |

Technically, his work is brilliant. JFK and Nixon are fantastic pieces of work--but the stuff that does not jibe with reality is a problem. I know he said that nobody knocks Shakespeare for taking liberties with history, but Shakespeare had a different conception of history. Platoon hasn't aged well, either (for other reasons). |
