Is it legal for a code enforcement official to enter your home without permission or warrant? Literally asking for a friend.

I think at the time of sale they can require a visit to check the smoke/CO alarms and make sure they are up to code.

In certain municipalities 'at the time of sale' is a required step in selling the home. Before you can get 'city stamps' the inspector must review the premises and make sure it is up to code. The seller may be required to fix certain things even if it was not required by the purchaser of the home. The idea is to keep the standards of the community at a certain level. What can also happen is it blocks a seller's ability to sell a home they cannot afford to fix and force it to go into greater disrepair/foreclosure.

Now, without permission or notification is an absolute NO. That should not happen. The seller would have to request home inspection. The home inspection should not be forced upon the owner without cause. Even with cause, how do they force themselves into the home? That should not happen.

This is going to have to be deferred to the consent expert.

If you had a gun, you wouldn't have this problem.

I've heard tax assessors try to do this by saying, If we don't come in, your taxes are going to go up.

I would agree, if you had a gun this wouldn't happen.

I can't imagine them needing to come in without a sale invoked or in a step to declare it uninhabitable. During a sale it's popular now to require an occupancy permit.

That show was beyond ridiculous at the end. Everybody had some kind of supernatural power.

I was rooting for all of them to die.

Yep - that last season was so turrible that I stopped watching 3 or 4 episodes in. Don't know/care how it ended. That show went on about 2 or 3 seasons past it's shelf life.

An inspector is, effectively, a law enforcement officer. He is limited entry in the same way you would think a police officer would be. Say no and they can get a warrant for entry. You can then enjoy being ticketed for every little item for which your house doesn't comply rather than the one item they were originally there to review. They can also write you up for anything observable from the public way. I'm not sure whether then can stop you from committing a crime but under those circumstances they probably call the police to help them, who can enter to stop a crime they observe.

Haven't you learned by now that answering the door in a semi open robe solves all code enforcement issues?

79% of all code enforcement officials have seen women open the door naked.

I don't remember much. I know that Vampire Bill (I loved when Sheriff Andy called him that  ) died. I think the final scene showed the remaining characters a few years later. Sookie got married and had kids. I think her brother got married. Jessica, the vampire with the giant jugs, and Boyd were married. Real sappy shit.

No show stayed on past its shelf life more than Weeds. The last four or five seasons absolutely sucked.

36% of all statistics are made up. 64% of the people know that.
