Couple days ago I decided to deactivate my Facebook account, want to see what life is like without it for a while. I enjoyed FB when it was pictures of kids, dogs, meals, vacations and funny stories. now its all politics and SJW outrage. I find myself getting annoyed with crap I read on there more often than not so I asked myself, why would I want to feel that way if I don't have to? Last couple days have been great. I find myself looking at my phone much less and life already seems a lot simpler and carefree than it was when I was a slave to FB. Anyone else give it up after being a pretty regular user? |

Oh no, shakes is now one of "those people" who quit social media. |

I never started. My wife "had to" reactivate hers because so many people were sending around invitations and communicating important events solely through Facebook. |

There's others? can we form a support group? Also, although I'm not currently on any social medial platforms, I wouldn't say I've quit social medial altogether. I'm thinking of opening an instagram account, that seems to be more in my wheel house of what I want out of social media. Also I didn't quit Twitter so much as I was driven away by a mob of hags with pitchforks. |

If I do go back to FB I would start my cutting my friend list by about 75%, get rid of anyone who annoys me in addition to people I don't have any contact with other than the initial friend request. |

This may be the peak of Facebook being horrible. Between rabid Hillary supporters, rabid Trump supporters, and Cubs fans that suddenly showed up out of nowhere I'm starting to root for the Russian hackers that can take down the whole internet until we get through next Tuesday. |

The most important thing to do when quitting social media is to tell every person you can about how you are quitting social media. |

The unfollow option is your friend. I think I have around 300-400 "friends," but only around 30-40 appear in my feed. |

yea, I probably didn't need to quit. But, I found myself looking at it too often and I wanted to get away from that for a while. If I do back I will definitely unfollow and unfriend anyone who posts politics or SJW shit. |

Unfollowing or blocking is the pussification of America. |

God youre a pussy. Why deactivate it. Now youre a sociopath. Just stop going to it. Its like trying to quit smoking by going to the dmv and telling them to deactivate your drivers license A man with no self control is a woman. |

no one forces you log onto facebook. you don't have to de-activate your profile to stop using it. my "problem" with facebook is how much multimedia they've allowed to infect posts. the multimedia of course was meant to assist advertisers. facebook was great when they didn't need to monetize their product. your feed was just your friends thoughts/happenings through text or pictures. now it seems it's 2 ads to one post by your friends. i used to log in everyday but no longer. i use facebook messenger more than facebook itself. |

I love Facebook. Not that I talk to a lot of my "friends" but for all the group's out there that have things that are interesting to me such as TV shows, old memories of my childhood, etc. |

The Facebook Purity thing is a must-have, so you don't end up getting obnoxious "people you might know" suggestions or ridiculous trending or news story in the sidebar. |
