I was reading about Trump's meeting with Obama today which also mention he was to meet with the majority leaders of congress as well. I couldn't find that in any stories so the google machine brought me down another interesting topic. How will Trump get through his appointments for cabinet and judges etc. With the Republicans only having a small majority I thought it would be contentious needing two thirds and all the filibuster stuff that goes on. Well the story below outlines that it is no problem and Trump can thank Harry Reid of all people. I forgot he had used the nuclear option to change the rules for all confirmations except SCOTUS. Simple majority and no filibusters. I seem to remember Republicans crying about this back then and warning it may come around one day. It was called whining or something similar I am sure. Well here you go. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/201 ... humer.html |

Hasn't the precedent been set now? |

It sounds like Democrats will try to stop him from appointing anyone. Their claim will be held stole it from Obama. |

I'm not sure what the have in their arsenal, but they shouldn't prevent him from nominating "anyone". They should use whatever tactics are available to push for as close to moderate as is possible.

He doesn't have 60 in the Senate so just like the GOP did to Garland they won't be able to bring it to a vote. Watch how batshit the right will go when that happens. |
