Currently with Verizon but its expensive as hell. Looking to make a switch but nervous about it because I'm pretty happy with Verizon's service coverage and speed. I had T-Mobile 5 years ago and it sucked pretty bad. I had Sprint before smartphones so I don't know if they are good or bad. I had AT&T back when it was Cingular so that is also not a good judge. ![]() ![]() Sprint is the cheapest by far but I'm thinking there has to be a reason for that. Anyone have Sprint that can comment on the speed/coverage? |

They're all pretty similar these days. Find the one who offers the best deals on smartphones at the time and dive in. |

sprint is a cheap plan that works well enough to make calls out here in the sticks. Not sure about coverage in the city. |

My work phone is Verizon, and it's horrible in buildings and in downtown Chicago and NY. I also have gaps on the Metra when I take that into the city. My family uses Sprint (three lines). No issues with service, but they're not testing it in Chicago and NY. |

I've been with Sprint for 15 years and I haven't had any issues other than 2010 an 2011 when they were doing a lot of upgrading. |

T-Mobile still sucks if you are outside the closer suburbs. But I get free 2G international data and $0.20 international roaming, so I have kept it. I was down in North Carolina in October and almost threw my phone into a wall because every time I went inside a building I'd lose any kind of signal. As in, even in the baggage claim area of the fucking airport. |

My husband used to have, it sucked, so he switched to something else. About 6 months ago his company made him use sprint, I think it lasted 2 weeks. It dropped our calls which was annoying and his client calls which were embarrassing. |

I have also been with sprint forever. It works great everywhere and I can stream music for hours while driving and never have it cut out. The only exception is in my house (central Arlington Heights). Because of that they gave me an airave to use (no charge) and that solved it. |

I switched from ATT to Sprint about 6 months ago and haven't noticed any difference other than a much lower bill. |

cheapest 3rd party provider I found is called Mint Sim by Ultra Mobile which works on the T-Mobile network. T-Mobile network works well for me but I live close to Chicago so it probably has many cell towers... not sure how it works in far west or North suburbs though!. ive been on cricket for awhile now its dirt cheap because i have my brother and his wife on the same plan.... adding my other brother this month. 4 lines is $25 a month each. thats unlimted talk and text, with 2.5GB of data for each line that usually has speeds of 8Mb/sec cricket is ATT's ghetto service, but it works the same. |

I have Verizon Prepaid. It's $45 plus tax (roughly $50) for unlimited calling and 2 GB of data a month. If I get sick of Verizon I can switch at any time. It actually works well for me. I find it funny how people tell me the services are all the same and when they get to Wisconsin their service is terrible. I guess the Sprint guy on the commercial was wrong about that. Signal coverage doesn't matter until you're in an emergency and you can't make a phone call. |

For whatever reason sprint works better for me in rural central wisconsin than it does in my backyard in Arlington Heights. |

Drake LaRrieta wrote: I find it funny how people tell me the services are all the same and when they get to Wisconsin their service is terrible. This is true. It's funny that people think Verizon is "basically the same" as the other services. Virtually every study on this has always had Verizon being the best by a significant margin. The "99%" thing is marketing and nothing more. There is a reason Verizon can charge more than the other services and still do very well. In incredibly high density areas with non-peak usage they'll all be pretty good. They all have a lot of towers there. If you have a tower from a specific company close to your house then your house coverage will be good. Verizon may not be worth the money as other services are acceptable too but no other service is close to them. |

Have had AT&T for about 15 years now and haven't had any major issues. Aside from their horrible Next plan -- which all companies have a version of now -- they're really no different from anyone else in my perception. You know, coming from a guy who's only had one cell service in 15 years. |

Had sprint for 15 years and generally have been ok with service. Have I have a nice plan for what I pay so no plan to leave. I think a lot of network issues are created by phones themselves and not the network but it's easier to just blame the network. If you live in a major metropolitan area these days any provider will do you just fine. |

No one's cell signals work there. They have AT&T, I have Verizon, I know some with Sprint and T-Mobile, too...just awful. |

C_Howitt_Coppock'sI just don't want a phone as big as a Nexus 6P, otherwise I would have switched to Google Fi already. I've generally been an Nexus owner since they started coming out, and I really like my 5 and just finished paying for it a few months ago. A couple of friends have Fi and are thrilled with the service. $20 plus $10/GB. |
