This is not a comment on his effectiveness as president. It's just a general question. Do you think Trump knows enough to explain the three branches of government and how they work? Please put aside biases about Hillary and the Koch brothers and George Soros. I just want to know if Trump could teach a basic, freshman level high school course on how American government works. |

Running for president is not for the most qualified, it is a popularity contest. |

Most voters are criminally uninformed and come to the voting booth with all kinds of biases and it isn't simply because of "fake news". It's worked okay for 240 years. |

He could likely tell you some of the basics from a High School government class, but he certainly has missed out on the more advanced topics you get from a few political science courses in a university. One of those topics is Globalization and it would help him understand why he can't make America "great" again. Am I the only one that reads Make America Great Again and think its just implied that its Make America Great Again for White Men? |

I would say that the checks and balances as they were constructed are very important. Some of them have just been bastardized by the executive branch. |

I guess we'll find out, but I really can't see Trump overreaching to the degree that Obama and Bush II did. Particularly because he is under so much more scrutiny than any president ever has been. |

Nas wrote: Really? I'm hoping that this is nothing more than bait. Yeah, really. Executive overreach usually occurs as a way for the president to circumvent a Congress unwilling to go along with him. Trump probably won't have that issue to the same degree Obama and Bush II did. And I didn't hear a lot of complaining when these guys used bureaucracy to effectively create law. You better believe there will be screaming if Trump does the same thing. |

There was nothing about Citizen Trump that told me he cared what others thought about him. I doubt he will start caring when he becomes the most powerful man in the world. There was screaming when it came to W and Obama from the beginning. W because MANY believe he stole the election and because his father was president. Obama because he was black and had very little experience. |

There are a lot of conservatives with strict views on the Constitution that he's surrounding himself with. It's very odd because Trump is anything but a conservative. Nas and others have often suggested that Trump didn't really want to win. I think it's the exact opposite. All he wanted was to win. He didn't give much thought to what came next. Now he's just gathering up guys who supported him, guys he knows, and generals with whom he is obviously enamored. Many of these guys are conservative ideologues. Trump is certainly not. I think Trump sees himself as a figurehead like Queen Elizabeth. In any case, the imbalance of power favoring the Executive Branch has grown without much complaint with Bush II and Obama in particular often governing by presidential fiat. It's ridiculous to attempt to pin that slippery slope on Trump, especially before he has even taken office. |

He probably could if he tried. The text book companies put together a teacher's guide and resources. Anyone could do it, which is why so much teaching is poor and uninspired. |

It's a defacto tax increase as it specifically earmarks funds for the roads that could otherwise be prioritized based on areas of need. It's a sweetheart bill for road contractors to make sure they get theirs. |
