I have a friend who is very interested in shaving. Before I knew him very well and we were searching for things to discuss (he is not a big sports fan), he asked me, "How do you shave?" I found it a very odd question at the time. But when I thought about it, I realized I am very particular about shaving. I like to use the blue Gillette throw-aways, but only the ones that are a single piece of plastic. I do not like when I tap the razor on the sink and the head falls off. There is a box in my bathroom closet that holds my toiletries that magically refills itself. That being the case, I can hardly complain when somehow the "wrong" razors end up in there. I'm pretty sure by now my wife knows exactly which razors to get. Those white plastic Bics are terrible. When I have used those in the winter I walked outside and it felt like someone was punching me in the face. |

I don't give it much thought. I do have a specific problem though with shaving. The hair on my neck under my face grows sideways. It seems impossible to get a great close shave. Most razors and techniques I tried can get it close enough for appearance. I always still feel a side to side stubble though and with some shirts that sucks. |

I looked into getting a straight razor. turned out the whole setup costs like $500 and you have to get them professionally sharpened ever month. |

I'm doing the Dollar Shave club, good razors but I'm not sure if I am saving any money. I don't know why I haven't cancelled, I think I like having a package delivered to be every month. |

Grow a full beard. Then you only have to shave your neck, and a little spot on each cheek. |

Chus wrote: Grow a full beard. Then you only have to shave your neck, and a little spot on each cheek. Since New Years I have been growing the well maintained full beard look. It has come in fine and many like my new rugged look. At this rate I will use one razor per six months. |

5+1 I used to use the Gillette Fusion that has 5 on the front, then that one on the back that's great for right under the nose or along the sideburns. Now I use the same setup from Dollar Shave Club. I have used the Fusion when I didn't get blades in time for me to travel and I like the Fusion better. Very similar, but slightly different size. I think the DSC is cheaper. The trick is that you would need to change your blades every week for it to be cheaper. That's why Gillette ran the counter-ad saying that their blades last like 7 weeks or something. |

I usually find a glass bottle in the gutter, break it on the curb and use it as my razor but I realize most are not as manly as me |

1 blade Merkur Futur adjustable safety razor ![]() + Feather razor blades ![]() + ![]() + badger hair brush ![]() = a smooth shave with much less redness and irritation (especially on my neck) than when I used Mach3 razors and regular shaving cream/gel. |
