Some of the details of the C.I.A. programs might have come from the plot of a spy novel for the cyberage, revealing numerous highly classified — and in some cases, exotic — hacking programs. One, code-named Weeping Angel, uses Samsung “smart” televisions as covert listening devices. According to the WikiLeaks news release, even when it appears to be turned off, the television “operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the internet to a covert C.I.A. server.”

My question is who is going through this endless about of information?

It's freaking scary. To answer your question, they are using super computers to parse the information. And really what it comes down to is that they are able to target specific people when/if needed. And in case BR wonders, they'll need an extra super computer to parse through all my smart tv's. :)

Probably the same people who are MORALLY OUTRAGED that a MARINE shared some NAKED PICTURES of GIRLS!

Not to get off topic, but do you think those people do not exist?

That was always the fear of technology. I know a guy who doesn't have a tv for that reason. My belief is that if our intelligence community wants to listen we're not going to stop them. Same is true for places like Russia.

I saw stuff where they had hacked car technology and can kill people in their cars without a trace of evidence left behind. It's not scary because I am sure the CIA would go to the FISA, which would do its job before approving an execution without due process.

You can do that right now. Our nuclear war heads use ancient technology for this reason.

But Democrats AND Republicans said its REALLY HARD to get a FISA warrant!

Conspiracy theory fans- remember Michael Hastings?

Journalist said he had to go under the radar for a big story then his car crashed in mysterious fashion. This leak says the CIA can hack and crash cars:

These new cars can be hacked and controlled.

Thank you WikiLeaks for exposing more examples of our big brother government spying on citizens.

Seriously, what the fuck happened to the 4th Amendment?

Yeah label me in the camp of being infinitely more concerned about the CIA being able to peer into everyone's home through a smart tv than a few marines sharing pictures of co-eds. Both are wrong, but one is more fundamental to the basic tenants of our democracy and Constitution than the other.

We watch this government trampling on our rights and wonder why Ruby Ridge and all that followed happened. I'd say government overreach has gotten worse since the early 90s.

There's a constant balance in our society between the government's role in keeping us safe and the protection of our rights. Plenty of examples. Take NYC with its stop and frisk policy. It appears that policy has led to a major decline in crime. But think about it, we could have stop and frisk on every street corner. We could also station marines on every street in Chicago. We'd be safer, but that isn't a country I'd want to live in. I am always going to be on the side of restricting government actions. But there are rational arguments to be had to all the intrusions to fight gun violence, illegal drugs flows, prevent terrorism and the like.

I question if it's really even about "keeping us safe" rather than controlling us and keeping the government safe. This government doesn't give a fuck about us.

It's amazing that MANY believes that the Feds are watching them even though they have NOTHING anyone wants to see. I'm sure governments around the world have the technology to do things MANY of us have never dreamed of. Your fears bring us people like President Trump. He's going to fix everything.

Because they are. That's irrefutable. Snowden, PRISM, Stingrays, FISA courts, now these leaks, time and again it has been proven that the federal government has collected, parsed, and filed away data on millions of Americans, indiscriminately. And the best you can muster is "hur durr, you think the feds care about you?"

It's not about them caring about me, or anyone else, it's about their ability to "care" about me, or anyone else, if they choose.

Oh, and look up the DEA's SOD, and their regular practice of parallel construction.

Another profound revelation is that the CIA can engage in "false flag" cyberattacks which portray Russia as the assailant. Discussing the CIA's Remote Devices Branch's UMBRAGE group, Wikileaks' source notes that it "collects and maintains a substantial library of attack techniques 'stolen' from malware produced in other states including the Russian Federation.

You are being watched and if you want a good analogy. Think of this as a mass electronic version of stop-and-frisk. Both are intrusive and major violations of your rights as a citizen.

I didn't vote for Trump because of this as I know he, like Obama, Bush, and Hillary, doesn't give a fuck about my Constitutional rights or my privacy. Fuck them all.

This is why I'm a Libertarian and would like to see the entire fucking system burn to the ground. This government has grown to become a monster that is far worse than the British we fought off nearly 250 years ago. Maybe this country needs an uprising.

You might want to examine the correlation of stop and frisk with the decline in crime rates. It is tenuous at best.
