Fun question here, is diversity of ideas and beliefs as important as diversity of race/gender/class?

Asking this one to hear some honest answers (and of course recognizing that latter may lead to the former in some circumstances)

If that's the evolution of mankind then so be it. We're already a pretty diverse country as it is.

It would be nice though if we don't all become one big race with the same skin color. How boring would that be?

All of us on the board will be dead by then anyways.

Diversity in my opinion is different ideas and backgrounds. I think it gets lost in race/sex.

I agree with brick, nothing worse than women in the workplace. Everyone else is fine.

Diversity is basically a synonym for multiculturalism. The left thinks that's great, but history has not shown that multiculturalism works in a society over a long period of time. Europe is going to be destroyed by multiculturalism. Having a similar language and shared values is more important than having different types of people for the sake of having different types of people. It is in fact damaging to American society if people who do not share the values of America are embraced as Americans without requiring any sort of assimilation. Radical Muslims exploiting the American immigration is essentially a Trojan horse within the country.

Diversity at work is a wonderful thing to have... as long as we're not only talking about racial diversity.

But that gets into what we mean by "diversity". You'd have to be a real asshole to want everyone to have the same skin color as you, eat the same food as you, pray to the same god as you. But I don't think it's evil to not want people who think blacks should use separate restrooms, who think women are the property of men, etc. Should we accept those people and their ideas for the sake of "diversity"?

Diversity doesn't mean accepting all ideas. It means being welcoming to all and trying to give people of all types the same access your own demographics would get.

I answered in the same general way you asked but that general theme will be true even if you specify the question. While it is true, the moment something different is brought in to a situation, the collection immediately strives for homogeneity. So, you will have to perpetually be attempting to create diversity as a balance.
