If the location is closer to DeKalb than it is Chicago, you're doing it wrong.

This would have more meaning if you actually had anything else to do in the first place.

Actually, the goal is to have it far enough away from you so that we know you won't come... but not so far away that the invitation we extend is obviously obligatory. #optics

Say, what did you and the red fruit end up doing last night?

I don't wanna talk about it. Let's just say there's a lot of shame and regret on his part.

He split 10s, didn't he? I warned you people about that.

Yeah, well, next time you want to deal blackjack and get a drunk's confidence up before they go gamble for real, warn them that they should stick to low min tables.

Don't know the back story of all this but people who split 10s should experience slow, painful deaths. I for one would love to receive 20 on every blackjack hand for the rest of my life.

These same people, if they thought of it, when dealt an A / 10, J, Q or K instead of accepting the 3-2 blackjack payout would also ask to double down on 11.

Yeah, if you split 10s I'm willing to change my stance on the death penalty for you.

Just so everyone is aware, Don Tiny is some sort of card savant with a checkered past. I tend to believe he was caught counting cards, but I'm willing to entertain other theories.

Just so everyone is aware, leash is easily led down a primrose path that he pretty much lays out for himself ... just answer any of his questions vaguely accompanied by slightly overdone facial expressions and you'll soon have him believing you're the resurrected Slobodan Milosevic.

Counting cards is relatively easy. It's betting 32 to 1 over your base bet when the deck is player friendly that makes it a tough gig to get away with.

Clearly not - plus, I think Chicago-Geneva is roughly the same as Chicago-Lakemoor.

As one of the only members of the board to grow up in the DeKalb-Sycamore area I wish I could defend FS's statements, but I can't. The closer to Chicago the better for board meet ups, but I relish the day I can host all the CFMB hockey fans at Lord Stanley's in DeKalb.

I live in that area but I have to admit that board outings have been far more successful closer to the city...

we could get a few board guys out...franky T, W_Z, Don Tiny?

- I made it clear that single-deck without shuffling every hand was not a good analog for a casino
- You're forgetting how many times you lost ... this happens when you're playing without cheques in front of you ... the inverse - remembering your beats - happens when it's for $
- If you two were chasing a winner, you should be beaten ... surely I don't have to debunk the 'gambler's fallacy'

Out of curiosity, I'm sure the table placard indicated, amongst other things like table min/max, if there was a limit on starting hands you could double-down on ... do you recall if they had something on there and, if so, what was the range? (maybe 8-11 or, more likely, 9-11 ... never forget)

Jimmy's chart is nice enough ... try this tweak though:

2 (+1)
3 (+1)
4 (+2)
5 (+2)
6 (+2)
7 (+1)
8 (0)
9 (-1)
10/J/Q/K (-2)
A (0) [also, keep a separate count of the number of Aces played in a given shoe]

Obviously, if you find yourself with a large '+' count and your Aces played count is low, start betting aggressively, but not stupidly. As long as you don't bet stupidly (e.g., hitting on a hard 17), you're probably not gonna get hassled/tossed for counting this way ... if the dealer calls your bet/stack or otherwise says something you don't understand rather loudly, you might consider throwing a bet or two every once in a while.

So I've heard.

First, it did not. I went to the casino with an inebriated and unnamed board member after we drank for 5 or 6 hours. He then proceeded to very efficiently lose his ass in Blackjack in about 2 minutes. It might have been a world record.

Second, I didn't want your damn number anyway. I accidentally clicked on it when I was Googling a horse masturbation gif to make fun of Steve and it popped with your number for more information.
