While we're re-instating dress codes, why not kick the "stewards" out of the cabin and the women out of the cockpit?

Make planes great again!

They where flying on employee passes. You have to dress in a business manner. I have flown this way several times, mostly to Florida from Chicago. Suits on the flight then right to the mens room to change into cabana wear.

People have no manners. More people should be turned away from the gate.

Agree. An airplane is not your bedroom.

Some guy on one of my recent flights took a dump in the aisle. Said he didn't want to walk all the way to the bathroom.

As long as you have good hygiene and aren't annoying then I can't think of a reason for caring about what you're wearing. Oh and your clothes can't smell too.

It's a slippery slope though. We didn't go from suits and ties to sweatpants and shower shoes without some stops in between.

 what? I'm in a suit right now and seriously plan to exchange this suffocating shit for some freshly washed sweats and a t shirt in about 20 minutes. Trust me if I boarded a plane afterwards no one is going to hold their noses. I don't do shower shoes. If you're implying that someone smells like ass when wearing sweats and shower shoes then the same could be said of people in business clothes, thought it'd be discordant. It's all about the hygiene and state of your clothes to me.

Airlines these days treat their passengers like Greyhound passengers.

If you're upset that people aren't dressed up, you can afford to hire a charter.

No, I mean dress and behavior on flights have simultaneously gotten more and more casual.

So has everything. I have a picture of an old game at Wrigley on my wall right now and everyone is wearing dresses and suits with ties and hats. What's the point man?

There are alternatives to flying that have now become superior from a time and money standpoint. Cars have gotten nicer, planes have gotten miserable. People keep making stupid decisions to fly to St Louis or even Minneapolis it's not my problem. If your trip is less than ~500 miles and doesn't cross an ocean you're an idiot to fly.

What if you absolutely, positively have to be there?

Flying isn't bad if you spend the money for economy plus.

I won't let another air travel thread go by without again noting that Boston Logan, by far, has the most passengers who look and smell like shit. These motherfuckers roll right out of bed, smoke a few cigarettes, and decide to board a three-hour flight.

Boston is a filthy place filled with filthy, repulsive people. There ought to be mandatory tubal ligations in junior high, but I suspect that would only put a dent in the teenage pregnancy statistics.

I can get to Detroit in 4 hours and it'll cost me about $30 in gas. I pack a snack and drinks when I do distance drives and if I cruise control at 80 mph I get there in one tank, so no stopping.

Getting to O'Hare, dealing with the typical O'Hare nightmares, sitting through an hour long flight, waiting for luggage and finding/getting a ride to wherever I'm going to in Detroit will take 4 hours easily. Its about $50 gas/depreciation/tirewear to get to Detroit, so less than half what an airfare would be unless I got a stellar deal. I also dont have to be stuffed between two obese whales and listen to people's children screaming in my car.
