It looks like it.

Football

1985 Bears are the best team to ever play.

Basketball

1996 Bulls are the best team to ever play. The '91, '92, and '93 Bulls would be 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively.

Hockey

The 2012-2013 Blackhawks are the best team to ever play.

Baseball

The 2005 White Sox are the best team at least in modern history. The 2016 Cubs are a close second.

It's not even a question, is it?

The Oilers of the mid 80s were miles better than the Hawks

I disagree because it goes against the narrative of the thread. Also not entertaining any 86 Celtics and 90's Yankees talk here.

No cap during Oilers era. Hawks are better.

No shame in being 2nd best.

Not sure what this means but if they are Chicago teams then yup, add them to the list too.

The Chicago Sting were a soccer team. The great Karl Heinz Granitza.

True. When a team spends every second of the regular season in 1st place and has an historically dominant postseason, you can't get better than that.

Yup. And for those who want to claim the 2016 Cubs are better, that's fine too. I don't personally agree but it doesn't change the thread.

Saw them play at th stadium back in the day. If I remember right they had an indoor season and an outdoor season. I also recall the stadium being empty.

They use to fill old Sox park all the time back in the day. Indoor soccer was pretty much at the end of any pro soccer league in the USA until the MLS was formed.

Those Sting teams would DESTROY today's Chelsea, Barcelona, and euro noname dont care teams

No cap during Oilers era. Hawks are better.

'80s NHL also had a severe lack of talent from outside Canada, and goalies sucked. The best team of the cap era is either the 2013 Hawks or the 2007 Ducks, where Pronger and Niedermayer just ran through everybody.

There was a time back in grade school where soccer could have permanently grabbed my sports attention. I went to Sting games in my youth and went to grade school with a guy whose dad played for the team. Fucker was supposed to get me Sting sweatbands but never did.

One thing people forget about that Sox team is how dominant they were on the mound. The team posted a cumulative 125 ERA+. And if there was one glaring weakness of that 2016 Cubs team, it was churning out runs against good pitching and good teams. They performed worse than the league average against teams that finished .500+.

The Canadiens should forever have an asterisk by all their glory years. D'Bags had the league rigged so they could cherry pick all the prime talent...it went on for decades. Fuck the Habs.

The old Sting coach Willy Roy runs a soccer dome down in Dolton. Well his kid runs it mostly, along with the bowling alley next door. Good guy, let us use the indoor field for our Special Olympic soccer team and the alley for SO bowling for free. May even buy drinks, but I'm always working when I see him.

If you're referring to the "territorial" draft picks, which the NBA also had, this actually isn't true. Their success had more to do with Sam Pollock being smarter and more motivated than the average idiot running a team -- again, just like Auerbach in the NBA. The one that stands out is the time he got the Oakland Seals to trade him the #1 draft pick for I don't even remember, but the draft pick was Guy Lafleur.
