Who we got here?

FavreFan:

MLB

Great - Aaron Judge

NFL

Great - Not sure

Terrible - thought Leonard Floyd would suck. Probably countless others

NBA

Great - Rondo, Kawhi

Terrible - Rondo

Dr Ken

Terrible - David Fales

Great - Jordan Howard

Nas

Poor Nas has been wrong about everybody since I joined the board.

good dolphin

Shoutout to Connor Gilaspie

IMU

MLB

Great - Jake Arrieta

Terrible - Brett Jackson

NBA -

Thought Noah was terrible and MCW was good. Turned out vice versa

thought Mirotic was great and it turns out Mirotic is the worst NBA player post-1970

Caller Bob

Terrible - everyone he has a good opinion about, probably

leashyourkids

Was wrong about Almora, probably was wrong about every other opinion

jorr

Was correct about Quintana. Was/Is wrong about Davidson. Also wrong about Jordan, Pippen, and Shaq, which is curious since his opinion was stated after the careers ended.

 The jury is still out on Davidson.

I thought Doug McDermott would be, not a great player, but a starter and reliable NBA scorer.

Right -

Jim McMahon - told my grade school bus driver after the Holiday Bowl that the Bears will draft him and win the Super Bowl and led to my lifelong love of NFL Draft analysis

Ryno - he will break out of that slump

Maddux - lots of guys start out losing 18 games

Joe Carter

David Fales - you'll see

Wrong -

Scot Thompson

Brad Muster

Alonzo Spellman

Golden Richards

I'll have to go back and refresh the memory. There was that Monk guy the Bears actually got that was a Combine warrior.

I was also right about Shawon Dunston.

Pop Quiz - was I right about him being good or bad?

I seen a lot of guys coaching in high school the past 15 years or so that went on to successful college or pro careers. Here are a few that stood out for me.

Right:

Crandall Head: Watched him play in high school. Thought the only thing he did well was jump. Figured he would be a bust in college and was right.

Tevin Coleman: Thought he could be a big time college and future NFL player. Proved correct.

Wrong:

Adam Gettis: I thought he was a better track athlete than football player. Successful career at Iowa and was in the NFL for a few years and still bouncing around the league.

Tommie Thomas: I thought this guy was a steal for Purdue. He played there for 5 years but never really did anything.

Stop being so sensitive and learn to take a joke.

And it was an impressive YouTube video.

Your YouTube scouting skills are impressive. Maybe you can host a workshop?

I was right about Caller Bob being a star.

I'd say I got Cutler wrong. Obviously not alone on that. Not necessarily in line with the question but I was right about Ben Wallace being useless as the Bulls new acquisition back in 2007 or whatever. Thought Carlos Zambrano was the next superstar pitcher.

Thought Alonzo Spellman would have a better career than Reggie White.

Although he was a two time all star, which is like a Tall Midget award in the Eastern Conference for Centers.

I was right about Chris Mullin. I still remember sitting on the bus on the way to high school and a group of 5 friends were laughing at my contention that Mullin would turn out to be an NBA star. Those guys had him out of the league within 5 years.

On the flipside I was wrong about Sherman Douglas. Didn't think he would last a year in the NBA, ended up having a pretty respectable 10 year career.

Also thought Tyrus Thomas would be good.

Liked Noah at the draft, but was torn between him and Spencer Hawes.

I was right about a somewhat unheralded rookie I saw play his first game for the Ottawa Senators many years ago...called a buddy and said you gotta see this Marian Hossa kid, he's really good.

I was right when I said that Barry Sanders, before he got drafted, would become the greatest running back in the history of the game and would one day rush for 3000 yards in a season. I was right about most of that and would've been 100% correct if he didn't end up spending his whole career getting ass fucked by the Detroit Lions.

I mean....I thought Randy Wells could be a starter in the league. So I was wrong there. But I never claimed him to be a star. He was serviceable with the Cubs...until he suddenly wasn't.

Sherman Douglas...one Boston scribe put it best. He can get you 20 and 10...but if you need 20 and 10 from him, you're a bad team. Same guy that said M.L. Carr was "unencumbered by a clue" when he coached.
