Wait a sec. I was told just a few years ago everything is just random chance. That fad is over, I guess.

I had no choice in making this thread. The brain chemicals force me to post.

One of Rush's biggest hits was entirely dependent on Geddy Lee not being a Calvinist.

I am not sure about that he was a Jew whose mom was a Auschwitz survivor. Peart wrote all the words.

A couple years ago he was signing his Big Beautiful Book of Bass at the Barnes & Noble over on Webster & Clybourn. One of my good friends who is a big Rush fan lives out in Arizona and Geddy wasn't doing any signings near him. So he asked me to go and have the book signed for him. This friend has also been a business partner who has bankrolled some of my craziest ideas. He's never told me no a single time. I would do anything he asked.

So I got there at a time I thought was early and they were already lined up around the block. It was a bunch of guys who looked like old ass versions of Bill & Ted cranking By-Tor and the Snow Dog on portable boomboxes. We stood out there for a long time and the line just kept growing behind me. I was glad I got there when I did. After a few hours they started letting people in. Then it started to rain. Luckily, I had already turned the corner and was able to stand under a small awning. When I got inside the line was snaking all over the store.

I got my book and a little card to present to get my autograph. There were strict instructions. He wasn't signing anything but his name and a short personalization like, "To Minooka Meatball, Geddy Lee". But my friend is Jewish and he knew all about Geddy's mom and he wanted him to sign, "To a fellow member of the Tribe". I figured that may not fly, but I told him I would try.

I got up there and they were trying to Rush people through. No pictures. If you were with a friend he could get a quick one of you standing there while Geddy signed your book. That was it. You were supposed to write the inscription you wanted on the card they gave you. So I put down, "To a fellow member of the Tribe" and hoped for the best. When Geddy saw it he got really excited and talked to me for longer than he talked to anyone else.

My friend was very happy and I felt kind of bad for making fun of Geddy's schnozz in "Patty Melt".

I have never heard a bad word about Geddy or Alex dealing with their friends. Outside of Alex and his son beating the piss out of some people drunkenly in FL. I don't think they were fans. Anyway, Neil was the once that was one to avoid/shy away from the fans. But being Canadian he could never be rude I think I saw him write.

Naw, not even best song on Permanent Waves. I like the lyrics, but the breakdown/solo section is a mess.

She was 15 years old, going on 35, Doc, and she told me she was 18, she was very willing. You know what I mean? I practically had to take to sewing my pants shut. But between you and me, she might have been 15. When you get that little Red Barchetta right up there in front of you, I don’t think it’s crazy at all and I don’t think you do either.

For drumming/Peart fans, I found this guy on YouTube who does ultra-faithful covers of most Rush songs. He is remarkable...this link starts with the Didacts and Narpets section from The Fountain of Lamneth:

I would love Rush fans thoughts on this.

Was in a Humanities class in college once where we were all asked to share our favorite work of art.

The last student i class to answer said "Rush's 7th album"

Is it that good?

Permanent Waves. Yes, it's that good.

Only 6 tracks long, but it has The Spirit of the Radio (IMO, their best song) and Jacob's Ladder, along with Freewill. Closes with a 10 minute epic - Natural Science.
