Why is the Tribune trying to make a standard fee petition seem like Jesse Jr. is being "sued" by Berger Schatz? Fake news!

They want the 9% interest on a judgment. With friends like that who needs loan sharks?

I'm guessing that's because they somehow got the judge to enter the fees as part of a child support proceeding and the statutory interest is 9%. Also, that way Berger Schatz can pursue their fees through the Domestic Relations court and grab the money from the marital estate rather than actually suing and trying to enforce their judgment.

That's statutory interest baby! You don't even want to know how bad interest on unpaid child support can get.

Yeah this is a pretty dumb story and is only news because of the names of the parties. I'm guessing his attorneys filed a Petition for Fees and rather than litigate the issue they just entered an agreement as to what the fees were and how they were to be paid back.

Ding ding ding. My experience...screw em. The real dead beats ought to pay regardless how long it runs. Whole lot shitty earners out there doing anything to avoid paying for their kids. Forget the glamour examples. Too many kids don't get basic necessities cause dad don't want to work a job that causes him to pay child support. LTG touched on the mentality once. It is everywhere, and unfortunate.

Everyone hates us until they need us, and when they do they'll wait in a line around the block to suck our dicks.

That's definitely a high hourly rate. But rich people like to hire the big firms like Berger Schatz and Schiller DuCanto so they can deplete the marital estate with legal fees. Most people would rather hand money to attorneys than to compromise and keep their money.

That's right. Spend the liquid cash and hide the remaining assets.
