First off, let's ban Boilmaker Rick from this thread. I will be travelling to Colorado next week and will be looking at bringing home some treats. I'm not going to be bringing home anything that would get me nabbed for some large scale distro charge, but I'm just curious if anyone else here has made the trip in recent years. From what I have been reading, I could encounter the following: 1. In places like Kansas or Nebraska you will be see road signs posted on the highway saying something like "Police Checkpoint Ahead". This is usually before an exit and the sign is placed there to scare people into exiting the highway into some po-dunk town that nobody normally exits to. It's at this exit where they nab people since it would be impossible to stop traffic completely on some place like I-80. 2. If you are pulled over, do not consent to any search. Police will claim they will call a K9 unit in, but it's illegal for them to detain you for an unreasonable amount of time (more than a few mins) to wait on a K9. 3. If you do get pulled over, and you do end up being searched don't be carrying any large amount of cash (Anything over $100). Police will confiscate it because it's "drug money". Civil forfeiture laws are great. 4. I heard from Hatchetman that if the cop offers to choke you, let them do it. Does anyone else here have any tips or stories to share? |

IMO, your best bet is to cross the state line on local roads then jump on an expressway 30 plus miles in. |

This is actually sound advice. If you don't believe you can easily ship that stuff UPS, then just look at how easily Silk Road users did it |

If you see flashing lights behind you, drive away as fast as you can. Probably a robber. |

shakes wrote: Its weed, no one gives a shit anymore. you can drive down the highway holding an ounce out one the window and no one is gonna bat an eye. police still give a shit because they can abuse civil forfeiture and take your car, any cash you have, etc. They don't even have to charge you with a crime. They are nothing but road pirates. Protect and serve my ass. |

You're overthinking it, Db. It's not like you're driving with kilos of coke in your trunk. You'll be fine. Grab me an eighth. |

I've done the drive 3 times in the past 3 years. No worries each time. Watch your speed and travel during the day. Also a car that is compliant. Doesn't hurt to travel with your family as cover as well. |

If you are taking I-76 to I-80, do NOT speed along 76. I once got a ticket in Sterling for going 7mph over. I assume they are just looking for any reason to pull over a car with out of state plates. |

It's not worth the risk but whatever, you're gonna do what you're gonna do. Best way is I-25 to Cheyenne to I-80, longer distance-wise than 70 or 76 but that way you deal with Wyoming as opposed to Nebraska or Kansas. You will definitely get pulled over between the state line and Big Springs on I-76 with Illinois license plates and only one passenger. |
