"Blue Apron Stock Is Now Worth Far Less Than One of Its Meals

Less than two months after going public, Blue Apron Holdings Inc.’s shares have fallen almost 50 percent to about $5 -- less than the price of one of its meals -- as the company struggles to persuade investors that it can win the hearts of America’s cooks.

In its first earnings report as a public company, Blue Apron managed to beat analysts’ estimates on revenue, but that was the only good news. The company said it didn’t raise as much as it expected in the IPO and also cut deeply into the marketing budget. The result: it lost customers during the quarter. In a conference call, Blue Apron executives warned that the second half will be even worse..."

"I have to be careful how I sauté this" was simply a terrible choice for a tagline.

Someone got us a sample/gift order of the competition of Blue Aprin. Ended up making the first meal out of three. It was marginal. Used the meat for other two in different things. Best thing about this was the awesome ice pack bag things they came packed with. I refreeze them and use them a lot.

My parents and sister ordered this. Sounds like you are doing more work in prepping and cooking and paying someone to deliver food to you, than going to the store and doing it all yourself.

I knew this IPO would be a train wreck. The meal kit business is already saturated and Amazon/Whole Foods are going to destroy the competition.

Have you looked at Carvana? It popped after it first earnings release, but they are selling cars at near zero gross profit margins. They are trying to do the Amazon thing until they hit scale, but I am not sure they get there.

I am convinced that stock will fall once it blows through the IPO cash and goes out for secondary offering. I have considered put options...

Wow. Loses his CBS job, beats up his old man, AND the article mentions an "estranged wife". Must be a real piece of shit.

This isnt funny, but I did laugh

When police arrived, Skolnick’s dad indicated where his son had allegedly hit him, though he told them that one bruise that was visible on his arm was from another time his son punched him a week earlier.

Yeah, he was on all the time when Bernstein mistakenly thought the Miami Heat were Chicago's second NBA team.

People under 40 can't cook, don't cook, have no intention of ever cooking. For the most part.

I must've forgotten the period when guys knew how to cook?

I think my grandpa cooked once for himself in life when my grandma was at the doctors so he had to turn on the stove to heat up borscht.

Yeah, that's a bad take. Maybe it was true 30 years ago.
