Sorry... another politics thread, so FF will be mad at me... If you lean Left, say something that pisses you off about the Left. If you lean Right, say something that pisses you off about the Right. And it can't be some compliment couched in a weak critique like "even though I think their heart is in the right place, I don't really care about transgendered rights." I'll start... I think I'm in the middle on most things, but I probably lean Left on social issues... It infuriates me when the Left insists on shutting down any argument by arguing morality and refusing to address practicality. An example would be if someone on the Right makes the (correct, IMO)argument that businesses should be able to choose who to do business with. Of course I believe that any business owner who refuses to do business with, say, gay people is an ignorant person who should have their business crumble at the hands of the free market, but they have that right. They shouldn't be forced to do business with anyone, as they are not restricting anyone's rights. Let their business fail on its own. Whaddya got? |

Freaking out about the anthem kneeling and wanting boycotts and firings over it. Yea, the kneeling is dumb as shit but it's their right. Quit bitching and enjoy some football. |

Practicality also dictates that some groups need to be protected from discrimination. I think we are the point where gay people should be one of them.A business can refuse services but it shouldn't be based on who the person is. The classic example is that if you are willing to write on a cake "Congrats Darkside and DW!" you should also be willing to write "Congrats leash and ff!". |

I hate how the left will jump through hoops to defend Islam at all costs...but trashes the religious right over stupid shit("they would not bake a cake for my gay wedding!")..not to say these bible banger's are not idiots, they are..but the double standard always amazes me. |

I'm probably more Republican than Democrat, but the Republicans fail on virtually every social issue that exists. I understand it is partly because there are a lot of people in this country that still let their religion make their decisions for them but it still gets annoying. Be the party of less government, less govenment control, and if you lose votes because you don't care if gay people get married then so be it. What are they going to do, vote for the Democrats? |

The virtual open path the left has available to them presently is being wasted by letting the just-as-loony extreme segment of their 'side' get way too much fucking press without any pushback - pushback, incidentally, that they're taking so much time and energy to yell that the 'other side' should be doing with their extreme dopes. As I've said before, I suspect that as far as the pendulum has swung to the right - and it's dreadful how far it's gone - it will surely swing even farther left soon enough. What stops it from every-increasing lunacy is a mystery to me ... all I know is I'll be long dead (thankfully) before it's complete chaos. |

I am absolutely aghast at the rise of the Alt Right among Republicans. It has infected the entire party including an inability to compromise and to view the world through a Fox News conspiracy lens. The party should stand for fiscal discipline, smaller government, free and open markets, states rights, opportunities for all, and a compassionate view of those less fortunate. Instead it is full of hatred and anger about everything and anything with an inward view of the world. |

Fiscal responsibility on the right has been a myth ever since Ronnie Reagan had his pissing match with the Soviets. |

I think I posted this thought in a similar thread, but what irritates me the most about the Democrats is that they constantly run left and then, if by some miracle they actually get elected, they pass the most watered down centrist shit imaginable while compromising with republicans who aren't going to vote for whatever they proposed anyway. Then they get called socialists despite being nothing but corporate sell-outs who luck into being on the right side of most social issues. |

And those businesses would fail due to their own stupidity. You do realize that the Jim Crow laws were government-dictated, right? |
