I just figured it out, and it's totally a rural vs non-rural thing. My wife just advised me (without any swaying beforehand) that they don't rhyme. And it's due to my rural twang. She pronounces pause as pawse and Oz as Aahz. I pronounce them the exact same way. This has been educational and cathartic. |
