Trying to decide what to buy my daughter for Christmas. She is starting to draw and write. What is less messy, chalkboard or marker board? Any good places to look?

When my daughter was young my wife bought chalkboard paint and painted a chalk board for her in kitchen in wall. It worked. If this is a parody thread, carry on.

Dry erase board.

Chalk gets messy.

Chalk over dry erase. Kids play with chalk! It's what they do! Who'd want to live in a conference room?

This. Dry erase boards are magnetic, as well. Kids love magnets.

Chalk is for outside only at this house.

I feel like you got progressively more intoxicated throughout this post.

That’s a good idea, though... the basement windows would be great... they are window wells so she wouldn’t embarrass us if she misspelled stuff.

I will never figure out these touch keyboards. I mean, I’m a horrible typest but touch keyboards and predictive spelling are not my friends. The random capitalization in the middle of a word is a nice touch however.

That is a safe assumption however.

Did you look at boogie boards?

Wife picked up a little tablet thing for my oldest for Christmas last year, it's kinda like an etch-a-sketch, but you write with a stylus, then press a button and it erases. He uses it instead of scratch paper for problem solving during tests and studying. I was really surprised a 25yo would want something lo-tech like that, but I guess it is all the rage at college, so he says.

Boogie Boards are nice. I leave my wife instructions on them sometimes before I leave for work, which she usually fails to follow.

Talk to her for a few minutes and she will be bored without you having to buy her a gift.

I already try. She tells me she's busy and can't talk.
