So who should be worrying about their jobs as Entercom takes control today over CBS.

Sounds good to me. K-Hits sucked and the cluster lacked a black station. Work in some classic B96 tracks and I'll be interested.

Quote:
At 11 a.m. today the company launched “The New 104.3 JAMS – Chicago’s #1 for Throwbacks,” geared to an ethnically diverse audience of millennials with rhythmic music of the ’90s and early ’00s. Core artists include Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Notorious B.I.G., TLC, 2pac, Nelly,

More like K-Brick!

104.3 WJMK. It was the best oldie's station until they moved it that JackFM bullshit. I hadn't listened to it since

104.3. Jack FM failed miserably but CBS couldn't go back to old-ies-one-oh-four-point-three! like nothing happened, so they rebranded it and watered it down.

also from Entercom's press release, via Feder:
Quote:
“K-Hits was one of five different radio stations playing some form of classic rock, classic hits or oldies,” the company acknowledged. “Chicago still loves ’70s and ’80s music, but between The Loop, The Drive, WLS FM, and Me-TV FM, there are a lot of places to hear ‘Don’t Stop Believin”,’ ‘Old Time Rock And Roll’ or ‘Take On Me’ and not a lot of listener loyalty to any one station.”

HELL YEAH DUDE, they're saying what we were saying

EDIT: reports are that it's going to be WBMX! DOUBLE HELL YEAH DUDE

OK. yeah, they had a button on the car radio but rarely used. they played all kinds of well-worn hits from MANY eras. would be good for a dentists office.

That used to be MAGIC 104 with dick biondi, etc. playing stuff like Black is Black....I want my baby back.

I loved that station.

I put it on and they're playing Jay-Z. Never mind, I take back everything I said, this station sucks.

Nice that they're bringing the WBMX call letters back, albeit at a different frequency. When I was in junior high/high school, WBMX was the station of my school bus drivers, and WGCI was the station of my dad's cooks and busboys. [Changing the station in the kitchen to anything than an evening baseball game was considered exceptionally poor form.] I preferred WBMX, there was a little less disco and a little more Thom Bell Philly, H-D-H era Motown, and a little bit of crossover (for about three years, I thought Michael McDonald was black.)

I used to think Montell Jordan and Montel Williams were the same person.

Anyway, I don't know if V103 or GCI were failing to adequately spin "Ready or Not" by the Fugees, but I'm glad this station is playing it.

3 times an hour and every 5 minutes during drive time? Sort of like XRT playing Vance Joy

FUCK VANCE JOY and every song of his called "Sorry I Suck" or whatever

Whoa, "My Boo" by the Ghost Town DJs. They are digging out the old B96 stuff. I could have emailed them my playlist if I thought they needed help.
