Post subject:  THE RISE AND FALL OF THE DRIVE-THRU GARBAGE CAN

I've been noticing lately that, whenever I go out to a drive thru restaurant, the usual garbage cans that were placed driveway/parking lot-side, you know, the ones with the big extension allowing you to toss out trash from your car (like the burger you just ate as you were pulling out of the lot!), have been replaced with mere stains on the concrete or walkway where they used to sit.

Now, I remember when I saw these garbage cans first popping up about 20 years ago. I'm sure they were out there before, but I just started to see them everywhere - hey, how convenient!

Now, I fear the lazy workers have rebelled or something, refusing to go outside to change the likely continuously-full trashbins, so it looks as if they have scrapped a lot of these trey convenient amenities.

BRING 'EM BACK! :x :o :x

On the other hand, the Dunkin Donuts along my normal route still has theirs, but it seems as if nobody is brave enough to go out there to empty it, as it is constantly full. Hanging on by a string, it seems.

The Burger King near me has one but it's around the corner. Perfect placement to not hold up the line.

Those go back to the 70s at least. Industrial design suggests maybe 60s. Great way to get rid of all kinds of crap. As mentioned above. Too popular!

what if they get rid of them at gas stations? then what will people be left to do with their trash? throw it in their own garbage cans at home? unlikely!

Once we start paying them $15/hr, I'm sure they will be emptied regularly.
