Need to include Soccer, Lacrosse and Hockey if it is all about safety. And yes I think it is ridiculous when I see kids 6,7,8 etc in full football equipment. Proposed law would ban tackle football for kids under 12 in Illinois Tackle football would be banned for children younger than 12 under a proposed state law that will be unveiled Thursday in Chicago. Citing growing worries about the long-term impact on the brain of repeated blows to the head on the field, a group that includes former NFL players and physicians is expected to formally announce the Dave Duerson Act at a news conference. The proposed law is named for the former Bears player who took his life in 2011 at age 50 and was later found to have had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the degenerative brain disease that has been linked to concussions. Backers of the bill also point to research suggesting that repeated blows to the head — even those that don’t produce the symptoms of a concussion — could also be a cause of CTE, and that the risk is higher for those who began tackle football as young children. A news release said state Rep. Carol Sente, a Vernon Hills Democrat, will introduce the legislation “aimed at helping youth enjoy the game while reducing long-term health risks.” |

Why not? Tackle football is trending towards being banned in the NFL at this point. |

I don't think this is even rationally related to a government interest. Not that the potential effects of sub-concussive hits isn't known, but the problem it poses to society at-large is, at best, totally ambiguous, and you just can't (or shouldn't) go around restricting the populace to perhaps save a handful of people 50 years from now. |

Probably not one of the things that should be legislated but it's a good idea to not have kids with brain damage. |

You show symptoms of extreme, terminal faggotry...perhaps you should've played a sport as a kid instead of making out with boys in theater. |

Are they going to eliminate playground games like 500 and smear the queer? Butts up? I probably got a few head traumas playing those games as a kid. |

The town I grew up in played flag football through 6th grade. Tackle started in 7th. Of course, that was 30 years ago and they might have 4 year olds playing tackle now??? |
