I didn't see a previous thread with this title, but I thought a running Darwin award winner category would be good.

Heard this one on the radio today, and though the guy didn't kill himself, the death he inflicted on his wife is classic.

acupuncture took away my FIL's hypoglycemia 10 years ago. we were all skeptical but a guy at his office convinced him to try it.
