Love deep dish pizza every once in a while. Get yourself a 12 inch deep dish pizza pan from a local cook/chef store. Go to a good local pizza place that will sell you a flattened out dough ball. Ask them to roll out double the dough. You need it thick to make a homemade deep dish pie. For a 12 inch, it’s around 8 ounces of dough for thin crust and 16 ounces for deep dish.

Buy a couple sides of sauce from the pizza place. You shouldn’t walk out of there spending more than $5. Get yourself a pound of whole milk mozzarella from your closest grocery store and any meats or veggies.

Lather up your pan with margarine or real butter, whatever you prefer. Place the flattened dough in the pan, pressing up and around the edges. Lightly butter the dough. Place the shreded mozzarella in there. Push the cheese down a bit so it’s compact and tight. Not too tight. Place any veggies or flat meat (pepperoni, canadian bacon) on top of the cheese. Apply sauce and spread with a spatula. If you have sausage (which you should), throw that on top of the sauce. The sausage will cook better.

You could throw some fresh garlic on top if you like that. Or you could cheat and sprinkle a little granulated garlic over the dough before the cheese is put down. You save easily $20 and it’s fun.
