24 years ago on this day, Kurt Cobain allegedly killed himself. Personally, I thought Nirvana was overrated but that's my opinion and I'm usually wrong. The podcast 'Conspiracy Theory' dedicated the last two episodes to the theories behind who killed him. I am about 80/20 that Cobain killed himself. |

He likely killed himself. The music was not overrated. After watching the most recent HBO videos of him with Love, I can't imagine how horrible a life he lived to turn out the way he did, a scrawny drug addict. |

Every few years it seems the consensus on Nirvana's music fluctuates between overrated and great |

I don't know if they were great, but they are important. |

The music was a huge impact culturally. Did it influence future music? I'm not as sure. There were a lot of copycats, but I don't think they experimented or had the influence of music like, say, The Beatles. Lyrically some of the stuff all In Utero was really good and some of it was just crap. Nevermind and Bleach are more for the sound than the lyrics, with some obvious exceptions. |

Never was a huge Nirvana fan, but I dug the hits like everybody else. The conspiracy stuff behind Kurt's death are intriguing and likely have some grains of truth to them, but I don't think Courtney Love is anywhere near smart enough or clever enough to have orchestrated that. The documentary about it does make you wonder a bit, but ... eh. He probably ate the gun. |

Nirvana was important, in that they helped usher in the Grunge Era, but I didn't find anything particularly special about the music. Frankly, I thought their best song was the Bowie cover on the Unplugged album. |

My personal favorite would be Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam, the demo version. The unplugged track is outstanding as well. How about those three Meat Puppets covers - Lake Of Fire, Plateau, and Oh Me. There might be enough to put together an 80 minute disc, or at least close to it. |

They only had 3 studio albums plus the unplugged stuff. myself I wasn't a huge fan of In Utero, but imagine if Cobain doesn't blow his head off and they have a chance to release more albums? |

if you like grunge, they were important, if you didn't, they sucked. is about what i gather when people talk about nirvana. i know guys who think the melvins and lemonheads are 100x better than nirvana and are the true pioneers of the grunge era. which is probably right but the melvins and lemonheads weren't as good. |

If he were still alive he would probably just be hanging around the Mariners singing the anthem and stuff like Vedder. |

I didn’t really listen to them until the guy died. Just to see what the big deal was about. I liked what I heard and now it’s classic rock. I wonder if they gained a lot of fans the same way. |
