Heard on a podcast I like a lot the guys refer to the Kobe/Shaq Lakers as a dynasty and it was just agreed upon. That’s not right, right? I think a dynasty necessarily needs to last 8-10 years minimum with 3-4 titles and probably more. Maybe three in a special circumstance but definitely needs to last more than 5 years.

Does it differentiate by sport? I don’t think by much.

I'm not sure you can compare the impact of Kobe/Shaq on the league for an extended period of time like you can for the Patriots with Bellichek and Brady. If LeBron and Wade won a few more championships, I think they would have been the closest since the Bulls run.

Ordinarily I'd agree, but a dynasty has to give you the feeling that they should win back to back at least once. At least in baseball. The Giants were the baseball Redskins. You knew they were really good, but better than the sum of its parts. And without dominance.

With the way baseball playoffs are, there will likely never be a baseball dynasty that meets these criteria. Regular season success would be a better gauge.
