My neighbors have 4 Kinkade paintings in their connected living room/dining room. 3 on the wall and 1 prominently displayed on an easel. All are Christmas/snowy winter theme. Must be Kinkade groupies.

Burning down their home would increase its value.

he was a shit human being and he was always accused of being a "pop artist" that had no depth or anything but some of his stuff was nice. i liked the homey feel of some of them.

All I have is memories.. I’m just looking for a sweet portrait to better remember him.

I think he's been mentioned here before... I know he lacks depth but I don't think he was completely without talent. Some of his houses look like they are on fire but some of them are saccharine in a comforting way. Almost like Norman Rockwell paintings. I had no idea how much he was hated by critics and he won't be found in the Louvre or Borghese but see why people put his paintings in their houses. I like most of his stuff more than Picasso, de Kooning, and Pollock.

I find that he's popular with pseudo rich people who think that having his pictures on their walls conveys wealth and taste. Kind of like showing off Bose speakers...nice enough, but no self-respecting audiophile would consider them anything more than average.

A guy I know is an artist who got started as a photographer and moved into these multimedia pieces. In this one he painted a facsimile of a Kinkade house himself and then hung it on a wall and took a still life photo. He then seamlessly inserted a video of himself being thrown out of the house by his wife/girlfriend.

I worked in the speaker business for a long time and we had a saying- if you hear no highs and you hear no lows, it must be Bose.
