the treacherous three was fun... Santa's rap from beat street and the cut "new rap language" stand out in my mind.

That said, by the time he went solo it seemed like he was more about dressing up like he was from the future or something equally anachronistic that fits in perfectly with that late 80s / early 90s black hole of tryharding an attempt to usher us into a new millennium with fashion + music. Kwame comes to mind!

That's what the history books say.

My rap listening career began with M.C. Hammer and then Dr. Dre....anything before that doesn't matter.

I called into b96 or z95 and requested this song. They played the one from the escape club that was out at about the same time.

It bums me out that my kids won't ever have the chance to sit by the radio after they requested a song especially if it was dedicated.

He was getting name checked on The Simpsons when it was still funny. That's how old he is.

His battle vs Busy B in 1981 is the stuff of legends. As far as my tastes are concerned, that marks my entry point into hip hop.

Go to the 7:20 mark.

He’s obviously great on the early Treacherous Three material, but it’s not the same lyrical spitfire that he was displaying in live settings circa 1981.
